What to do with top screen when using aftermarket receiver?

I just bought a 2013 Maxima and while I love nearly everything about the car, it came with the super basic stereo system - I'm surprised it even has an aux in. I'm looking at replacing it with something better but I'm not sure what will happen with the top section of the upper screen (the amber screen). Will it just be blank? Can/should I be replacing it as well? I can't seem to find any reference on this, only how to install the aftermarket receiver itself. Also, if I wanted to add a backup camera, is anyone aware of an easy trick or hint to running the RCA wire to the rear?

Thanks all!

You'll be replacing the bottom half aka cd changer.

The AC/heat controls will stay.

Right, that makes sense to me - I'm just curious what will/should display on the top half of the climate control screen where my radio display usually is.
