2009 Maxima won’t start.

I need help. This morning my 2009 Nissan Maxima won’t start because the PRND (Park, reverse, neutral, drive) display won’t show on my dash hence my car doesn’t know which gear it is in. Since the vehicle is designed to start only in park mode, it won’t start. I can however shift gears but still no display. I tried selecting the gear manually on the gearbox directly but still no display on my dash. What should I do?

Don't know why you started a second thread on the same subject, I have the same car 2009 SV Sport. Are you saying that you can move the gear shifter out of park and into the next gears without pushing the start button twice without foot on brake pedal to get into run position? The only time gear positions are displayed on the dash is when car start button is pushed twice for run position or when you start the car with the brake pedal pushed. Have you checked all the fuses? When you said that you can move the shifter can you put it in Neutral and are able to move the car?

yes when I press the foot brake pedal and push the start button, the engine comes on but it won’t crank and I can move the shifter out of park to any gear but there’ll be no gear indicator display on the dash.

Did you ever figure out the problem?

I have a 5th Gen. I know this is a 7th Gen forum. However, I can't find any info, and this is the closest to my problem. Here's my post in 5th Gen:

I can't start the car, but the gear selector can move. The light on the dash stays on 'D' no matter which gear is selected.
