Wheel Bearing
Hi guys,
So my left front hub bearing is groaning away very loud so I'm going to change it out this weekend, From my observance after removing the wheel it looks like a bolt on hub and looks to be easily accessible by removing the axle nut, removing brake caliper and rotor, removing ABS sensor then tap the axle in with a rubber mallet and unbolt the 4 bolts behind the hub and hopefully it'll pop off, Has anyone done this job and is this the proper procedure of doing this job? I've replaced bolt on bearings before on other vehicles just want to make sure that the procedure above works the same for the Maxima or if i'm missing something?
Thank you

Just an update on the front bearing job I did yesterday, Removing the axle nut was by far the worst part of the job, took about 45 mins before it finally broke free, 2nd headache was the rotor it would not pop off I literally had to use a lot of WD40 and whack the hell out of it with a rubber mallet for atleast an hour before it came off. Then I unscrewed the 4 bolts to the hub and hammered the axle shaft in and hammered the hub for about 5-10 mins and off it came, Had everything assembled in reverse order in about 35 mins and the car runs beautifully again!

Definitely a lot of rust yes I live in Massachusetts so corrosion is definitely a problem this way, Sludge hammer woulda worked perfect but I needed to salvage the rotor I didn't want to bang it all up and have to replace it so the rubber hammer worked well for saving the rotor, I used the sludge hammer and a pick to slightly hammer the axle in to free it from the hub assembly. If there wasn't corrosion and rust to deal with things woulda probably came off smoothly or with little effort.

I changed both of my fronts this weekend. I got two MOOG hubs from Amazon Warehouse for a total price of $90'ish. The process was easy and I luckily didn't have to do too much banging.
The impact wrench is a Godsend in this process though.
No more humming from the car while I drive now.

That's what I'm hearing that the SKF is a premium bearing that should last years to come, Here's hoping! I have a 2010 Maxima the OEM bearings on these cars are junk I went through my right front at 110,000 and now just did the left front at 122,000. My wife has a 2012 Maxima and had to replace the right rear at 64,000.. The OEM bearings for the Maxima seems to be a very common problem on these cars!
