A/c

I just bought a 2010 MAX and it’s my third MAX. Love my MAX! My A/C drops in temperature when I punch it. Not a lot but it’s noticeable. Is this normal or does it require service. At idle A/C runs great and at steady speed. It only happens when I am on it.

Based on the information you gave, it's fine. Your compressor is spinning faster at speed, pushing more refrigerant through the coil.

I think there’s some miscommunication here. If the Temp is cold when idle, but much colder when running at normal RPM, then there is likely a problem. As the system can function quite well at idle, and shouldn’t need RPM’s to work colder unless it’s either low on refrigerant or a failing part like the compressor or expansion valve.

Now if what you meant was that if you’re Wide Open Throttle and the AC seems to stop cooling during that time, but when you ease back to normal operating RPM it goes back to cooling, that is completely normal. When there is extreme throttle the car disables AC for a spell so you aren’t robbed any HP from the peripheral pulley. You see that on a lot of 4 and 6 cylinder cars.

Yea you are correct it’s only when I get on the throttle. I am glad that this is normal. My 06 MAX never stopped cooling when on the throttle that’s why I thought there might be something wrong.

Thank you again for the information.

Yes it’s only when I get on the throttle. Thanks for the information I thought there was something wrong with my A/C.
