2009 Maxima Exhaust Work Approximate Cost & Difficulty
I have a 2009 Maxima that I haven’t been able to drive for about a year due to the exhaust sounding like a tank, and have gotten a ticket for an inoperable muffler (even tho it’s not a muffler problem)
This problem started when I backed into a curb and shifted my whole system forward and what I think has happened is it cracked off right at the intake manifold up by the engine on the left hand side. It sucks in exhaust fumes into the cabin when the car is parked or stopped though the A/C. When I get down outside it sounds louder on the left hand side then the right.
What I’m wondering is this a huge job to fix? Should I be expecting a $3000 bill? And how in-depth is the fix (engine lift or just a simple few bolts)
I know the cost could vary based on what exactly is wrong and parts neeeded but hypothetically if I needed to put in mostly new parts and depending on the difficulty of it how much am I looking at?
Any help is appreciated!
I do have to get it towed to a mechanic so looking for some info before I spend $100 for a tow to get told it’s $3000 to fix haha
Don't worry about left and right. Not how this works.
Yes, this could potentially be an expensive job. Depends on what they find when they get underneath it.
It takes a lot of force to bust a manifold with a curb. Other, softer components undoubtedly were damaged as a result of absorbing a lot of that force. Get a set of these after your exhaust repair
The cost to fix your exhaust is the same as it was when you posted the problem two months ago. The answers will be the same. Have it inspected by an exhaust shop to get a fix price.

Ah, I see. Well in that case, it will cost more now than two months ago accounting for inflation.
