Q re: fixing exhaust problem

long story short:

last week i ran over a rock, garage told me i bent front piece of exhaust and did damage to rear part of manifold (?). i replaced the exhaust, and had them try to fix whatever other damage they said i had done. the mechanic told me he got to most of the screws they had to replace, but some of them would require dismantling of other parts to get to them (read: big labor $$$). so the car runs fine it just has a slight tick-tick-tick still when i give it gas, a sound the mechanic told me would remain unless i go ahead and do this all-out repair. since i don't want to spend big bucks to fix a little noise i can barely hear over the radio and PR CAI anyway, what i am thinking of doing is some sort of exhaust modifying that will give me a little throatier sound (for performance and/or to further drown out the choo-choo train sound). my question is this: are there any exhaust components (universal bolt-on mufflers, etc) that people know to significantly improve sound? im just looking for any info, not really concerned w/ prices or anything just yet. thanks in advance

Before you put performance parts on, fix what's wrong.

Sounds like you have a broken exhaust manifold stud.
