Denso is OEM. I'm running a DENSO I installed February of this year for my 2014 Maxima engine (5th gen swap). I could hang meat in my car if I wanted to. No issues it's first season. Grabbed mine from RockAuto.
Edit: I should add that DENSO is a Nissan OEM provider for many components. VALEO makes the OEM compressor for our cars though. I found this one, not too shabby a price either:
What are the symptoms? AC clutch coil failure is pretty common and costs 20-30 bux.
I thought it was the clutch when I first heard it. It makes a clicking/knocking sound that changes when the motor RPMs go up/down. I had a mechanic diagnose it and he said it was the compressor. The compressor will not come on so I cant test with the clutch engaged/disengaged. I guess the freon is too low to allow it to lock-up.
I am not sure if he took the serpentine belt off and ran the car without it, just to confirm it is not internal to the engine.

Thanks for that. The Desno 471-5006 is $221 at Rock Auto. That is a really good price for this compressor. The compressor (W/ clutch) from Nissan is over $700.

Which is why you don't buy from the dealer if you can help it. The Amazon link I included is the same OEM compressor Nissan will sell you and it's half at $366. My Denso did fantastic for an entire Florida summer season. I'm certain it will run just fine for the next.

If the clutch isn't engaging, then the clicking/knocking isn't coming from the compressor.
Disconnect the compressor clutch harness and put a meter on the 2 wires. Turn on the a/c button and see if you get 12 VDC at the harness. If it's getting 12VDC, but the clutch isn't engaging, it's likely the coil that's out.

If you're not getting 12 VDC, then you have other issues. Have you gone to autozone/advance and rented a manifold gauge to check pressures?
Youtube is your friend.. ericthecarguy has some good vids on checking pressures.
Thanks for the info. I am actually in the process of purchasing this car. The owner told me that he is going to replace the compressor since that was the diagnosis. When i test drove the car ir was hard to tell where the sound was coming from but it was low in the engine. Hope its not internal in the engine.
What's up folks I'm new on the forum... I own a black 2010 maxima SV and I have to replace my a/c compressor too. Good info on the brands but are yall sure Valeo is OEM for our cars? At the bottom of the page on the link below, there's the Denso and Valeo as you mentioned above there's also one that specifically says "Nissan".?? Just trying to be sure to grab the OEM or the closest to it without the hefty price tag if there's no difference in quality or durability between the valeo or denso and the "nissan" branded one
That said, DENSO is also an OEM provider. I'm running the DENSO unit. It's on it's second Florida summer. I can still hang meat in my car. No problems. Both are a great price. I'd jump on either with no hesitation. Rockauto is awesome.

My wife's 2012 just got a new compressor put in, It's a Denso and we couldn't be any happier. Just wish I was able to tackle that job myself and save on the labor cost.
Just replaced my A/C compressor with the Denso Unit from Rockauto on my 2011 Maxima. Can't complain it's been working great for a month now, got it fixed just in time for this summer heat. Also replaced the Condenser, Expansion valve.( I figured just replaced them all together to remedy any a/c issues that could pop up after replacing the just the compressor)Used a local mechanic shop for the labor, had them also change out the V-belt since that job required that part to be loosed and removed of the old compressor.
