So let me start off with an introduction.
Name is Tim, I just recently bought a 2010 Maxima sv with 210,000 miles. I got it for a good price! $1500. A friend of the family had it.
So now I'm having an issue with my CVT. Fluid is good. But one day I go to leave and I noticed it was sluggish as hell. Come to find out if I have it "D" it stays in 6th gear. No matter what! If I drive it with the paddle shifters it responds as it should. Changed the cam sensors but nothing.
Let me know what you think, please. Thank you!!

Additional information will help
How many times fluid had been changed before?
Filter changed before?
Any CEL? What codes you get from scanner?
Fluid level good? Search how to check it the right way
Battery good? Alternator good?
Why you changed cam sensor?
if it's transmission issue for sure, it might be the valve body

Honestly 210k miles is a lot for the cvt, it might have an issue these trannies are picky and don't last long if a heavy-footer drives them!

I changed the fluid a few weeks ago, no lights on dash. I'm currently waiting for a scan tool I purchased to be delivered.

Can you confirm if these cars stay in high gear when "D" is selected?

I've read on here and a few other places that the cam sensor is a possibility.

Did you use Nissan NST2 fluid? How much did you drain and how much new fluid back in? Is level correct now?
Not sure what do you mean "stay in high gear" these transmissions don't have gears, but if you mean lugging the engine on load and stay on very low ratio and RPM then sure no if you give it say half a throttle (on D).
As suggested by user1, connect a good scanner and post codes if you get any, what scanner will you use? You need one that can access the TCM

Did the car ever run good while you owned it?
Did the problem start before or after the fluid change?
What type of fluid did you use for the change?

The CVT does not stay in high gear when "D" is selected. The ECM, and TCM and maybe another computer selects what ratio to use depending of vehicle speed and gas pedal position.
Auto Zone can read your codes and they will do it for free.

Cvt makes a whining noise when driven . In sport plus mode
Hey guys I got a 2012 maxima 150000 kms on it tranny was replaced at 72000 km it still running no performance issues the only thing ik wondering is why does it make a loud whining noise when driven in sport plus mode aggressively
when the rpms get rlly high and and I down shift and the rpms are high anyone have any thought on this ? Would a fluid change help this issue ? I drive my car hard so I wanna make sure that everything is running optimal

That's the problem right there you drive your car hard, Not what these cars like. You can do a drain/fill and filter change to see if that helps, When was the last time you did maintenance on the CVT? Honestly my opinion these cars don't like to be driven aggressively.

+1
These cars (transmissions) are fragile. Never to be pushed hard or you face the consequences
