Any issues with the 10-14 model years?

I’ve owned a 1988 and a 2000. The 88 was falling apart, understandably so at nearly 30 years old... the 2000 was only 13 years old with 155k and the gas gauge was off, a coil needed to be replaced, and it kept dying before I wrecked it... probably just a dirty throttle body, but we’ll never know. Overall, not terrible. Anyway, I’m just wondering what issues I might encounter if I purchase a 2010-2014.

Since you’ve posted a 7th Gen question in the 5th Gen sub-forum, you may not get the responses you’re seeking.

50/50 chance of plenty of issue later on, check Google for 2009-2015 Maxima issues....I'll never buy another Maxima after the 2003 model....These were the last built in Japan! The 2004-2008 are riddled with so many issues once they get about 5 years on them it's ridiculous!

As much as I liked that car after renting one, I honestly never see them on the road anymore. I suspect the CVTs are sending them to the junkyard.

and to clarify that i think mid year in 2001 the 2002 model production line was moved to the states as well, there's a way to check through your VIN. 2003 model years i don't believe where even made in japan any more. and IIRC it was just the engine blocks that were being produced in japan then as well.

10/01 production here. Japanese produced.

I'm pretty sure all 5th gens are Japan production. They may have started us production of 6th gens early.

This might be cause for the confusion.

They started gen 6 production very early. It's quite possible 6th gens were already on dealer lots while late production 5th gens were still arriving

Depends, did the previous owner change fluids in time.....try finding one with some history of receipts or maintenance records on things or its just luck lol.... I got mines with high mileage, an 09 model, and its been 3 years almost and been a great car. Changed brakes, rotors, radiator and antifreeze, original axles went around 180K and did the control arms also, swapped struts with some low mileage 14 models with 36K on them and did two CVT fluid drains and refills to get all the old fluid out, and just regular oil and filter and air filter changes every 3-5K miles and some used tires and few rims from NYC potholes needed to be replaced, one ballast gave out also on my HIDs so swapped that too ......been a great car to me. I never really beat on it though, but love the power when its needed. Might need a motor mount soon as the torque mount is looking like its showing its age with some cracks in it too......easy ten min job. I do most the work myself and probably saved about half of what the car is worth now alone with just the work I did myself.
