power steering pump replace

NEED HELP ASAP
with my 2010 max i started with the high pressure hose successfully thanks to the information from these forums--thanks guys
now im replacing the power steering pump because after the hose replace i had no pressure (i added fluid and bled the air out).
i am having HELL trying to get the front bracket out! there are 2 bracket nuts behind the pulley and 2 more up higher that are VERY hard to access.
any ideas how to get to those bracket bolts and also if the rear bracket needs to come off completely or just remove the 2 rear bracket bolts and swivel it out of the way?
Thanks a lot for your input!

I ended up cutting an access square into the side of the chassis behind the passenger side suspension spring to access the goddamn power steering pump bracket bolts. kind of ghetto, but it worked!

Hey, needs must! I will admit that I thought about it, even after getting the very thin walled sockets.

Last comment about this job..... its been said before but i must reiterate it again-- to align the lower passenger side banjo bolt its way way way easier to do with the upper middle bracket (near the fiwerwall/winshield) off! i wasted several hours before rereading the threads about this.

ok guys im about at my wits end with my 2010 maxima power steering issue. I could use any and all suggestions!

started with a high pressure hose leak. after i replaced the high pressure power steering hose, i refilled, bled, and drove it and had zero power steering and no leaks (yes i refilled it).
then i replaced the power steering pump and pressure sensor (since i broke it). i refilled and bled it and still no power steering!!!!!
i checked the ecu code and got a 5 which means no problems ( i think ). there are no leaks at all, but absolutely no power steering--new hp hose pump and sensor!
Any ideas??????????????????????

Not sure how you bled it but get the front wheels off the ground and turn lock to lock a few times (keep an eye on fluid level) you either have a bubble or, and it happened to me, you got a bad pump.

Not even sure it's possible to screw that up. Pump must be toast.

I have read these pumps are a PIA to change and do seem to go out often. I am hoping by regularly replacing/flushing the power steering fluid I can avoid having mine go out.

I FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
replaced the hp ps hose (the original problem), then no leaks but zero power steering, replaced the ps pump with remanufactured pump (hell) and no power, replaced it again with a new ps pump (easier than first but still hell bc i lost one of the bracket bolts for like 3 hours) --still no power, BUT no leaks.
guess------what the problem was???
I didnt realize there was a power steering pump resivor until i studied a schematic trying to figure it out.
I had been trying to fill the fluid through the dip stick spout with a funnel and for whatever reason it was never making its way to the pump even though i turned the wheels a million times.
as soon as i filled it through the resivor, instant power!!!!!!!!!

So you were dumping power steering fluid into the CVT?

I think he was pouring power steering fluid into the CVT pipe, his problems are only beginning! Hope all goes well for him!

I think ima have to do the same thing right now man. I’ve gotten ever single bolt off except those 2.
what’d you use to cut the access square ?

I wouldn't go that route, many people have accessed it successfully. Patience and the right sockets and techniques is the key. These cars are a crap show to work on.

There is no dipstick spout for filling the power steering fluid. Tragic beginner’s mistake. The only way to fill power steering fluid is through the reservoir. Like other mentions, you were probably pouring power steering fluid into the CVT system. This post is old but I hope your car survived this mess up. At the minimum, I would have drained and refilled the CVT fluid and try to salvage my mistake.
