Cleaning the TB. Ideas?
Thinking to take out the TB on my 09 (97k miles) and give it a good cleanup.
1. Yes or no? Don't wanna mess it up. I know I shouldn't move the plate manually. I'll just clean the edges and the plate and let the CRC TB cleaner go through the area around the plate.
2. Should I have a new gasket on hand?
3. Do I need new bolts? I assume they are Allen type screws?
4. I'd prefer I take it out the IM completely. What do you think?
I cleaned my previous 2002 and 2003 TB out the of the car. In the 02 it gave back some more low end power but didn't have any effect on the 03 (was an auto)
Those who tackled the job what do you think?
Thanks

The previous gen, my 05, my manually opening the valves to clean resulted in a new TB - erotic idling
wouldn’t recommend touching on this gen ( been thinking of a DIY).
See what others say - not much on the web either

Didn't have the sticking issue on my '13, but cleaned it anyway while it was off. Didn't separate the throttle body from the plenum, so had no need for a gasket. I just sprayed some carb cleaner on a shop towel, and cleaned both sides of the throttle plate and the "ring of gunk" off the inside of the bore. Try to use a minimal amount of cleaner, and do not spray directly onto or into the bore/plate.
Both cars had around 70K mileage on them when I did this.
That's my .02. YMMV

Should be fine. I have used the same tb spray on my 09 during every spark plug change. Gasket is a good idea but i did reuse it one time. No need for new hex head screws unless someone used the wrong tool for the job. I remove it, spray it well and after dry, reinstall. You may have to do the idle relearn procedure but that is straightforward. Do remove power from battery first though and don't open the throttle body wide although i do it a bit just so i can get the buildup off where the plate meets the body. It is easy to remove and reinstall so I do recommend doing it off the car. I haven't seen much buildup but I think it a good thing to do while changing the plugs anyway (at 97k you are due anyway!)

Just had my TB and entire Intake system cleaned using the BG Induction Service, The system cleans it all including the reverse side on the plate, my mechanic charged me $75. He has all the system tools.
Result was great power, however 6 months later I had a Massive Air Flow Sensor flag. Took out the sensor and cleaned it with CRC MAF sensor cleaner, worked great.

This is a DIY - completed surgery today
Flat head screw driver, pliers/ needle nose, socket with hex, carb cleaner, toothbrush
optional to remove the air box - I didn’t
SURGERY
To remove tube that connects to throttle body, and air box — Loosen 4 clamps: air box, throttle body, vacuum tube in front, clamp at bottom
slide out vacuum tube complete, then reach down and slide out bottom tube. A bit of wiggling to remove tube from throttle body and air box
2-3 minutes later
unplug harness from throttle body.
Two vacuum lines at bottom of throttle body with clamp. Mark them to not cross when reversing surgery.
hex with socket, remove the 4 bolts from throttle body. One of the screws hold a bracket to plug up a harness
remove throttle body (2 minutes later)
AT NO TIME SHOULD YOU ATTEMPT TO MOVE THE BUTTERFLY ON THROTTLE BODY…. NOT YET AT LEAST
spray inside and out of throttle body while using toothbrush to scrub away all the buildup. Use bristle to your advantage while cleaning. Once you are satisfied then
SLIGHTLY PUSH ON BUTTERFLY ENOUGH FOR A HAIR TO GO UNDER BUTTERFLY, while using your toothbrush. —— gently holding butterfly
HOLD UP complete TB to light and you should see space 🤣🤣
spray and clean, spray and clean….
use a cloth to wipe the tunnel where the TB bolts into. Careful not to disturb the gasket, and mesh.
Night and day difference.
sorry no pix, but the GUNK buildup was surprisingly a lot.
REVERSE SURGERY
DISCLAIMER: I did the above and no problem.
on start up, the idle was at 1,100, then steady dropped to 700 🤛🏿🤛🏿
drive car around block…, nice!!!!!
TOTAL SURGERY TIME: -30 minutes

To write a representative essay you need to know the basics of writing to nail any essay. Some students are well-versed with writing techniques, but most students are not. Also, the number of projects and the strict deadlines make it even more challenging to complete the tasks all by yourself. Hence, students look forward to some help and often knock on the doors of how-to Essay Editing Services companies. According to my personal experience, BookMyEssay is one of the best website for writing services. Visit the site for more info.

throttle response: now how does one gage that? I have a TB controller on my ZL1, and can set on ECO mode and operates like driving Ms. Daisy if you floor the pedal, to Ludacris - drop pin on pedal =whiplash.
car idles nice, please w gas mileage, and can get about 550 on a full tank.
granted, I changed plugs, cleaned K@N air filter, changed oil to 10w40, tires at 38 tpms, light on the pedal but average 70mph for 100 round trip…
hope that help!

Finally got it done
I started by taking off the stock black air intake piece by piece, took MAF off the housing and removed the air filter. Then the most PITA part was to take off the 2 coolant lines. I decided to open TB completely from IM and then work to disconnect the coolant hoses. They were stuck like crazy but WD40 spray came to the rescue and some flat screwdriver to just push the very edge of the hose. I didn't want to use force and risk having a coolant leak. Until it came off.
Front of TB was fine but back had some sticky greese all over. Cleaned MAF, washed air box, and used a new air filter.
Also used a new TB gasket and 4 new bolts.
That set from Home Depot helped a ton without it my hex sockets couldn't open the lower right bolt.
