Alternator short

Could the wire harness be the cause of the alternator short out

PLEASE!!! Be more specific! What issues are you having with the car to think it's the alternator? A lot of people here are very knowledgeable and will help you but you have to put detail in your post to get a proper response pertaining to your issue. This tells us nothing.

I think I found the problem there's was some oil where the wire harness connects to the alternator

I'm currently replacing the alternator again but I'm going to have a professional work on the wire harness.I pretty damn sure I crossed up the wires

it never hurts to have a second pair of eyes check your work.
