At 110k miles, there should be no need to replace the timing chain. What's the back story on why you think it needs replacement?

Agree with @the wizard. Maxima timing chains are supposed to last through the entire life of the engine. Mine had the timing chain rattle at 170,000 miles which I fixed by replacing the tensioner and guides.

It was idling and riding rough like missing and shaking. Had a code for Bank 1 misfire replaced that. Soon as I got it back to drive home basically once it warmed up some right back to doing the same thing. So this time code read VVT solenoid. My mechanic was like you going to keep getting codes til you change the timing chain. So idk

I'd get a new mechanic and a 2nd opinion. If they still said I needed a timing chain I would either replace the engine or get rid of the car. My 2010 Maxima has 176k miles on it and no rattles or oil loss. Replacing the engine btw would be cheaper than doing the timing chain.

Ok gotcha. I’m taking it to another mechanic. But I don’t hear any rattling or anything. Just see engine shaking under the hood once the check engine lights start blinking. Then you drive it some more it stops blinking and drives regular then it starts blinking and same thing. I have had the VVT Solenoids replaced 2-3 years ago. I’m thinking that’s what it is after what my code scanner picked up

Good Idea, a second opinion is seconded by me.

Check engine light blinking from my past experiences is usually a coil pack going bad!

Check engine blinking is usually one or more bad injectors, not VVT. I say pull the codes yourself, erase codes, and see what codes you really have after a short drive.

I’m supposed to pick her up today. My buddy call me and told me something about the mechanic said the tensioner needed adjusting. Something about one of my coils. If I don’t get her today it will be tomorrow. I will give y’all exact word for word from the mechanic
