2014 Maxima: New battery no radio for 1 hr??

Hi everyone
Original owner of a 2014 Maxima sport.
I recently had battery problems and often had to jump start my car. I finally replaced the battery with a new one, and it starts perfectly every time.
BUT: I have this strange problem that my radio ( or blue tooth) will not turn on. I presses the on/off button and nothing happens. It’s as if I did not work. Then I started to notice the radio seemed to turn on at odd times.
I searched the Internet and there were various tricks to reset the security code. Nothing worked.
I searched this forum, and it became clear there was no security feature.
I watch the behavior intently and noticed that the radio would turn on after about 1 hour after the car was started.

Any suggestions would be very helpful. I am pretty handy with cars, I’m an ex aircraft mechanic.

thank you in advance
cheers
Mike

I haven't heard of this before so I admit to being a bit intrigued.

Does it take an hour if, instead of starting, you go to accessory mode and turn on the radio? Just trying to determine if this is a relay issue or throw out other possibilities like loose connections that "regain connection" during driving (i.e. vibration)

Hi LtLeary
Thank you for the reply. Today it was only 15 minutes.?? Is There a source for the electrical schematics? I would like to pursue your idea of a bad relay

Update:
i have been watching this for a couple months now, trying to find more clues.

The problem: no audio from my 2014 Maxima Sport.

The symptoms:
-All audio is off for ~ 1 hour, then it randomly turns on???

-all the video on the screen works just fine (all screens switch and display properly)
-the navigation system works, but no audio. I can set a destination and it tracks perfectly...but NO audio??

- the radio power button does nothing when presses. The mode selection buttons (FM-AM / SAT / DISC-AUX) do not work; in fact the whole upper **** set for the audio system does not work. The CD eject button DOES work??
-the temperature system works
-the bluetooth system works. My phone can connect, and when someone calls: it shows up on the display screen, but NO audio
-the mode buttons on the steering wheel do not work (but the cruise control buttons do work)

- Around one hour of the car running; the audio to turns back on; and everything works perfectly!! It has been as short as 30 min, but this has only happened once or twice out of the last 50 drives.

i looked at the schematics and there does not seem to be anything in common with these symptoms. LtLeary has made great suggestions, but no luck!

This was a personnel challenge to get this to work, but i give up! PLEASE HELP!! (i don't want to claim failure and go to the dealer )

THANK YOU
-Mike

There was an issue similar to this with the radio's in the 03 Maxima's and I believe the 04 350Z cars as well. If you hit a bump in the Z the radio would cut out and in the Maxima it didn't have sound.
The problem was that the grid on the connection tape would come delaminated and cause a loss of connection, the fix was to send the radio to an outside party for a costly repair.
I would suggest you get a used radio from a Pick n Pull or see what other model year Nissan product has the same radio and try that.
had a 03 Maxima and the radio in the 03 - 05 350Z fit perfectly.

A couple of questions I have that have not been answered in your posts yet.
1. How long did it take for this problem to show up after you changed the battery? Very next startup or a few days/weeks later.
2. When the radio is working normally, and you shut the car off, then restart in a couple of seconds is there still that delay?

Answers:
1: The problem showed up just before the battery change. Let me add a little more info to that; The whole problem started this winter. I work from home so i do not use my car very much. Of course; one day when i needed the car, the battery was dead. I jumped it, and went on my merry way. This happened a few times (long duration [sometimes > than a week] of no driving followed by a jump start.) looking back; this problem started happening after one of these long duration followed by a jump. I finally got a new battery, and the problem has been present since. (but, no more jump starts )
2.NO. Once the problem resolves itself; the radio is good for the rest of the day. I don't have any data points on how long it last; but i can say for sure at least 60 min (in and out of a store). AND it ALWAYS (100% of the time) resets itself to the problem state overnight. 100% of the time; the next time i drive it; the problem exists.

Thanks again for any help with this
Mike

Could be an open circuit because of a temperature thing. Car warms up, radio works, cools down, there's a delay until it warms up again.

I don't suppose you have actually removed the head unit and checked that all the connections are "right and tight?" If not, going with Richard66's observation, it might be worth a shot. But as the weather warms up, this posit will become easier to validate.

Thank you for the suggestions!!
(I have not taken the head out, but i may attempt that this weekend)

One thing that confuses me: why did this all start from a bad battery that was jump-started a few times?
My first thought was some type of security feature that deactivates the radio??

Any thoughts on why this problem could have been initiated from various jump-starts?
