Hood bumper dissolving

Maxima 2010 SV, AT.

Here, we go again... The mid-Atlantic curse - deteriorating rubber

Last year I replaced the trunk button, which had turned into goo.

Now one of the bumpers on the hood has joined the fraternity of the (soon to be) goo(ners).

Has anyone replaced any of these? I tried a (test) twist for removal and got nothing. Perhaps it is a simple question of more force, but I thought I better ask.

As usual, all guidance is welcome.

Do you have a picture you could share so we are on the same page?

If you are talking about the two adjustable rubber bumpers that are connected to the front of the hood. The bumpers have rubber threads that screw into the hood. Counterclockwise rotation will release them.

Yep, precisely.

I will add some torque.

If they break off, just dig out the reminents and install new ones. Cost about 3 bucks each.

Well, I have to replace them. I was worried about damaging a fitting or some sheet metal.
