25k short!

Well, had to put on my 3rd alternator today. At least it failed nicely (read just enough power to help me get home after the idiot light came on!)
474,345 miles.

Exceptional amount of miles Lt. I believe we have the same exact car, although you have 8 fold the amount of miles as mine. When you reach 500K would be interesting if you could provide a listing of all parts replaced over the years.

Are you the original owner? That's a lot of miles! Congrats! How many miles do you rack up a year?

Definitely getting your money's worth out of this car.

Will you be going for a million miles?

Have had her since she was born, when my beloved 300m broke a timimg belt right in front of a Nissam dealer 50 miles from home! I used to average approx 850 mi/week before Corona. Then maybe 1000 mi/yr for two years and now, with hybrid working, about 600 mi/week.

Re 1M mIles? I dont know. We are both getting older with corresponding wrinkles and leaks .The goal was to get to 500 with original engine and cvt, but I just put new shoes on her and now with the new alternator, i may just put im another set of plugs and swe what happens!

Thanks for sharing. That's a lot of driving! I say you at least try and go for 750,000 miles. You should be there in about 8 years at this rate. Hopefully you nor the car blow a gasket.

Your mileage makes my paltry 195k seem like nothing. My first goal is 300k, depending on how many yrs it takes to get there, plus I have to split driving time between 2 primary and 2 seasonal vehicles.

I actually outsourced this as the FSM calls for AC removal. I saw videos of folks doing alternator swaps without removing any ac lines or compressor, but with my ham fisted hands, i dont quite have the dexterity or the patience to hold my tongue a certain way whilst standing on one leg wearing a tutu on a rainy day. plus, i knew I would have to have the ac serviced anyway (the ac generally needs replacing during my alternator swaps anyway as it has been used just as much as the alternator!) Speaking of which, she has to go back for ac service. I told the gm that it would most probably need a new ac compressor like every time before, but he said it wouldnt. Well today is the first drive and ac blows warm during idle/stop and go traffic. Fortunately, most of my drive is highway so i didnt die coming to work! So back she goes!

I experienced the same thing after I had my Alternator replaced by the dealer. Whether the mechanic tries to replace the alternator without physically removing the A/C compressor (save on labor $) or remove the A/C compressor as per the directions in the shop manual, there's always the risk of damaging a seal. That's what happened in my case. They replaced the alternator without removing the A/C compressor, it was fine when I left the dealer but the next couple of days, I lost A/C. They checked it out, found a leak and then replaced the A/C Low pressure Line seal for $225.00CDN and it was backup and running. That was in 2020 and no other issues to date. So you may not need to replace the compressor which is a significant higher cost.
