Interesting. We will get his official test-drive report day after tomorrow (Wednesday June 3rd). Many of the questions/suggestions that he covered clearly came from Maxima drivers of yore, who will always try to take the Maxima back to its roots. But those days are gone.

Those suggesting RWD are now THIRTY YEARS behind the curve (Maxima switched from RWD to FWD with the 1985 model). Those suggesting AWD fail to understand Nissan sells the AWD option in their Infiniti line. As Maxima is now near-luxury, it is important that it not also infringe on luxury line Infiniti by adding an AWD option.

His comments on adding AWD option, manual option and changing to the 3.7 engine in the SR show a lack of realization that the SR is a very limited volume vehicle, and will probably sell less than 20K copies. That small number does not give much leeway for any major change. The 3.7 option would be very temporary, and not worth the money necessary to accomplish the change, as the very near future will almost surely be taking the Maxima to a smaller, but possibly more powerful engine. 3.0TT?

Just my opinions.
