Maintenance changes

Was just looking at the online owner's manual, and have verified 2 changes that I was expecting:

1. New CVT fluid is NS-3 (was NS-2). I had read in one of the reviews that the new fluid is less viscous than the old.

2. Recommended oil weight is 0W-20 (quickly becoming the new standard), which will necessitate synthetic for most brand names. I have a stash of 5W-30 that I will use up in the wife's truck and as summer fill for the Maxima, while looking for 0W-20 on sale!

And whats the cost for oil changes? I know the 7th gen had that crazy ester oil requirement early on cost 90 bucks for an oil change.

The standard service interval is 5,000 miles/6 months.

The ester oil was a suggestion, never a requirement. Unless it was factory fill, it was never in my Maxima. I have no idea what dealers will charge for an oil change. I always buy quality synthetic on sale and change myself.

I had the 7th gen day 1 and the first few months it was listed as "required" ester oil. then the dealers got a memo that said its not longer required.

I think someone here (grizzdad?) was reading the Nissan literature, and said it was 5K miles or 6 months, whichever came first.

Yes you're correct - it is 5K or 6 months. For me, we drive so little so it's 6 months. Sorry about that!
