Very Disappointed
Stopped by Nissan the other day to check out the new Max. Specifically the platinum edition. Started out great. The car looks incredible from both the inside and outside. Upon getting in the car my hair rubs the headliner. WTF
I am tall but not crazy tall at just under 6'3". I have had many "Z cars" which I am sure your are aware is much smaller a car and never had an issue with headroom. So I looked at the SR plenty of headroom but lacking the toys that the platinum has. It even has less toys then my 6th gen which makes it a deal breaker. No new Maxima for me.
So the Nissan/Datsun era is close to coming to an end in my family. Which stared in 1971
You blow it Nissan

I am 6ft tall and had the same problem in the platinum. Until I realized that the seat had been set all the way up. Adjusting the seat downwards resolved the issue.
Also, I think that all models have the same headroom , not a specific issue with the platinum.

I am the same height and had plenty of head room, pretty sure you needed to adjust the seat. This car has more headroom than most any other car, so if you truly have issues with it, you will have trouble with the vast majority of other cars. The 8th gen is by far the best Maxima to date. If not, good luck on your search.

I'm sure the chassis (headroom) is the same in all trim levels. It wouldn't make sense or be cost effective to have different height dimensions in an upscale grocery getter. Have you confirmed this in the sales brochure? I also wouldn't bank on any changes in this department when the mid cycle refresh happens.

Once I adjusted the seat height, I had a little more headroom than I have with my 7G.

I stopped by the local Nissan store and looked at the 2016 Maximas. I do not see a lot of difference between current 2012 SV and the 2016 models. All loaded, the stickers ran around $42,000.
For that kind of money, there are a lot of other choices and I will keep looking while my GF commutes with the 2012 with 63,000 miles.

Give him a break, Turbo. It is very clear he did not analyze the specs or test drive the 2016. For instance, the 2016 has all the latest technical safety advancements, while the 7th gen had none. The 8th gen also has more power and a clearly better CVT. There are many options available on the 8th gen that were not available on the 7th gen, such as interior lighting options, underneath lighting, threshhold lighting, blackened diffuser, vertical all-around view of surroundings, etc, etc. And the interior of the 7th gen cannot begin to compare with the interior of the 8th gen.
