This is a pretty well written write up and have to agree with the author. This makes it even harder for me to wait to get my SR!

I will add that every day that I get into my Maxima, I enjoy it more and more! There have been a few days where I was rushing to get ready just so I could start the drive to work!

I got in it the other day and a pleasant lady's voice came on and gave me a thunderstorm warning. I didn't even know that was included! I learn something new every day

While I agree with some of his wistfulness regarding the 3rd gen, I suspect in a head to head comparo - the 8th gen would beat it in every possible instrumented way.

The ones that are still around and have been taken care of still look good.

That's SXM weather and is available on all trims. You purchase that from SXM a la carte.

The statements below are hardly valid, all us long time Maxima guys know this, the 7th gen was far from the worst iteration of the Maxima. The 6th gen takes those honors with ease!

"Yet the 7th gen Maxima was the best selling large sedan with six cylinders in the past 5 years. Think about that for a moment, arguably the worst iteration of the car outsold the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Ford Taurus and Chevrolet Impala."

I'm with you Monte.....I really like my 7th gen. The 6th didn't do it for me. I still get random people coming up to me & saying nice things about the car.

MONTE is right again. The 6th gen was, in many ways, a fine car. It was a very roomy and comfortable people carrier. I enjoyed my 2004 6th gen SL for five years. But it somehow was not really a Maxima. It was as if it was never intended to be even close to a '4DSC.'

By contrast, the 7th gen not only did not take the Maxima further into floating luxury, but actually took things back toward the 4DSC range, with the emphasis on 'toward.' The 8th gen continues this trend back toward the 4DSC area. It is OK with me that the 8th gen may not quite reach the 4DSC position, because, just as it is, it meets all my wishes and needs. I am so very pleased with this 8th gen.

+1 although I did test drive a 2015 Audi S4 today and that is by far a true 4DSC. Next car decision will be rough.

Yes you need to find what you are looking for. That Audi is 50000 plus... Especially if you want navigation and other tech goodies. Awd and a supercharged 6 . The Maxima is not playing in the same division.

Different price class by far, and a super-sport model of the A4 at that. Compare an A4 and get back to us.

And the Audi is still a Volkswagen product, bio-degradable wiring and all. Every time I mention that my papers were from a VW apprenticeship someone will inevitably quip that I am just an automotive electrician.

I came from a 2010 S4. Tight as a drum, awesome dual clutch transmission, and the quattro AWD offers incredible grip. That being said, the wannabe Recaro seats were incredibly uncomfortable for long drives, the rear seat space is unacceptable for anyone with a family, and the design was getting a little long in the tooth. The new one comes out later this year/early next year anyway.
