Mirror tap wiring choices?
Mirror tap wiring choices?
I just took possession of my first Maxima. I got the SV 8th generation.
I had my Passport 9500ix installed in my Caddy ATS for the past few years... and I want to mirror mount it in the Max.
Problem for me is that when I pull down the din on the mirror, I can't get the meter probes into the housing to determine ground or ign. I only have 3 wires on the plug. I suppose I could get some kinda taps to insert into the plug to do the continuity and VDC check, but that's only just so reliable...
Can anyone tell me which wire is which of the 3 in the plug?
Thanks for any advice!
Michael

While I can't help with the wiring schematic, I would appreciate your comparisons with the Cadillac ATS and your Maxima. The ATS has long been on my radar but I always felt the car was a bit small and certainly very pricy. Of course the Maxima has a heavy sticker too but the net pricing for me was very good!
Without wanting to break every rule, I'll be brief.
I loved my 2013 ATS, throughout the 39 month lease. It was powerful, and extremely well provisioned. It felt more nimble than my Maxima, maybe due to its smaller size and RWD. The Cadillac CUE system is the best user interface I have seen in a car.
However...
It is still a GM product, and I would never want to own it out of warranty. They had to replace the entire display (warranty) due to faults, and that would have been horrible had I been paying! They also put run flat tires on those cars, and no spare. More expensive, and I always wondered what happens when you destroy a tire in the middle of the night. It is more expensive as well, as noted.
I think in the long term, I will be happy with the reliability of the Max. I do wish now that I had ponied up a model version or two. The SV is very nice, but I will miss some creature comforts. Oddly, so far the main thing I miss is voice tuning the radio. I'm still poking around this new interface, so I might find things in there I didn't know about. I can say it takes FOREVER to sync the BluTooth player on my Galaxy S6. I'm already tired of that lag...
Good luck!

Yes, A friend has the SRX and the Cue display has gone out twice! I did like the haptic response it gave the user. Like you I was this close to pulling the trigger over 3 years ago but the price was too high and the lease residual was too low. I totally agree about the "runflats". They ride a little hard as well. To me it is a BIG DEAL that Nissan includes the spare and jack for the Maxima! You at least have a fighting chance to get back on the road after a flat. Acura is now charging 365 bucks for a spare on the TLX for what should be in the car from the start. Thanks for your comments and the best of luck with your car
