DVD Headrest and Amp/Sub

Audiovox HR7012 DVD matches the interior nicely, has the blue stitching of the SR.
JL sub sounds awesome (JL 600/1 with a 12" Alpine Type R).
My installer (Imagine Audio - Cherry Hill, NJ) had figured out the solution for the Active Noise Cancellation. They were able to access the mic wires in the driver side A Pillar. Disconnecting one of the wires shut the ANC system off.

Kept the sub, to a simple box that can be unhooked and removed if needed within 2 minutes.

Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'.....

Couple more pics.
The amp is just on the passenger side seat, and the bass control **** was installed to the blank space next to the heated steering wheel button.

Nice! Are the headrests independent or do they route to a control box? Did the installer have to order them custom from Audiovox?

Why did you have to remove the Active Noise Cancellation?

The Headrests route to a control box, each unit can play its own disc and be listened to via wireless headphone. I have it set up where the movie can be played thru the AUX input in the center console cubby (next to the USB slots). They were custom ordered. These are 7" screens. They have 8" but not for the Maxima, yet.

The ANC tries to use the sub to cancel out unwanted noise. With after market subs, you end up getting a tremendous amount of feedback, so disabling the mics removes that problem.

Does your trunk rattle?

I think the systems that come in these cars now a days are satisfying as is. But Looking to do something not to that magnitude just a lil extra punch...

I hear you can turn of the ANC by
1) turning off audio system,
2) hold down the menu button and turn the volume button.

This brings up the secret menu where you can disable it. Don't mess with settings you don't understand though.

I heard this great joke.....

A 2013 Maxima owner heard something that might be, an tells everyone NOT to mess with a setting you don't know about.

Do you even own an 8th gen?
Why are you even on here?

Honestly, nothing.
The fake engine noise still gets pumped in while in sport mode. I can't tell you the difference of when it was active.

Why the hate? Just trying to help.

If you are upset that you had to cut the wire, I understand. But don't take it out on someone that is just trying to help. I have not tried this on my 8th gen because I don't have a sub installed, thus have no reason to disable. I got this info from another group I am apart of where they showed screenshots of the menu's.

Lastly, to answer your questions,
1) I do own a 16 White Platinum. I just updated my profile. Thanks for catching that.

2) Because I like to help others when I can and I like to research potential problems with a new release car before I buy.

Well what he says is true... Tested it myself. I have an SV so I won't see all the options in that menu that an SL SR or Platinum may have... But its ok that's what I love about personal customization!

kaulana, I apologize for snapping. We had a death in the family that was unexpected, and I was trying to keep some sanity by surfing the forum. Obviously I wasn't handling it well enough. I eventually reconnected my cut wire and followed your suggestion. It does work perfectly.

Thank you.
I wish I hadn't spent so much time finding an alternative solution.

Accepted and sorry to hear about your loss. We are cool. Hopefully 2016 will get better.

Back to business... How does the Type R sound? I am wanting a small volume sub and am looking into a Type-R, JL 10W6 or a Sundown Audio SA-8.

I blew up 2 10W6's with this 600/1 amp, if you check JL's specs they shouldn't go past 500w. I would have liked to gone with a 10 or 12/W7, but $$$$$. The Alpine had good reviews, and I'm very happy with it. It makes the other average BOSE components sound better IMO.
Have not heard of Sundown Audio. I would suggest at least a 10inch for the Maxima. But then again, its all in the wattage.

Does swapping out the speakers/amp/sub still let you choose the drivers stage in the head unit (or whatever it's called)? Or does that only work when paired with the bose components.

Yes, I can still use the Bose Centerpoint and Driver Soundstage. Those are head unit features.
