Sub Woofers
Sub Woofers
Anyone had any difficulties installing or having installed an aftermarket amp and sub? I know one person stated to turn off the ANC feature, just wanted to see if anyone else had other issues.
I did here is how to fix it. http://www.moodym.com/articles/diag/hidden-diag.shtml
I'm also looking to add a cheapish amp/sub to the trunk to fill out the bottom end, probably a JBL GT-BassPro 12" ~ $150. So far I haven't been able to find any info on the head unit itself, such as what it has on the back. Does anyone know if it has rca outputs for a sub and a remote wire connection ? Does it need some specific harness ? Does having the 2ohm speakers from the Bose system mess with the quality if I have to splice in to the rear speakers with the built-in line out converter ?

There was a hole already drilled directly above the Brake area. For the power cable, I pulled the plastic trim immediately below the fuse area and then the pieces along the side, tucked it all and even added it to the bundled wires there by Nissan (there is room to add the cable).
I got mine from the local market but it is essentially this:

Thanks Frasierts! I'm also in Houston, but I'll probably order everything online cause I'm lazy and cheap :P I'll go crawling up under the driver's side when I get home from work and see if I want to give it a shot. A local shop wants to charge $70 labor, $30 for the PAC and $20 for the amp cable kit, but if I could do it when I was 16, I should be able to do it now (I'm just a little more cautious now lol.) Thanks again for the info
I had my amp mounted on the back of the rear seats. Power ran through the center console to firewall and battery beyond. For the switchable power interface we used the cigarette lighter-style port in the center console, which powers the amp when the car is on.
We tapped in the BOSE speaker lines using a PAC adapter, works great.
Turning off the ANC is essential! Feedback will drive you crazy otherwise.
I like the result -- I recommend you work with the Centerpoint and Soundstage settings, season to taste
(for BOSE)
Its not ideal, and it won't get much better without a major system overhaul. I won't be doing that.
My next upgrade might be a screen hack to enable full video interface on the front dash. Of course, that kit isn't out yet, but it will be. Hackers are so creative!
Age old saying... "No highs, no lows, must be BOSE"

I'm out west, south of Katy right off the westpark tollway.
Mike - thanks for that info too. When you say "switchable power interface", is that the remote wire that turns the amp on and off with the ignition ?
