Question Just Curious. Anyone buy extended warranty?

If anyone purchased an extended warranty with their new 2016 maxima?
I picked up my new SR tonight and the finance mgr pushed really hard but I held off wanting to hear from some forum members.
If you did. I'd love to know the details and cost of the warranty purchased.

On a side note, I want to post a couple pics but not sure how?

I didn't get an extended warranty, per say. But I did get the wheel and tire protection. I got it for $550. Damage to one wheel or replace a tire and you've pretty much paid for it. Plus you get roadside assistance with it. I always get it with my cars. My wife drives a Q50s and got a nail in a tire one day. The dealer showed me the invoice they had to submit for the warranty claim and it was $610. Including the tire and labor. Mind you the Q50s has runflat tires, but still. Worth it to me for the extra piece of mind.

Good move on waiting on the extended warranty. I assume you are keeping the car beyond the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty period. You can price shop the extended warranty but I would only get a Nissan warranty, not a private third party one.

Never buy them. If it works for you and your happy, keep buying them. I always trade in 4-5 years and never had "car problems" regular maintence should leave you in good shape

That SR looks awesome in black. Its hard to decide what to buy- combos trim levels colors...its not easy. i want to go to the lot again and just walk around but the sales guys seem to try to get ONE car fast as they can and rush it...its also easier to work on a deal on ONE car before you go in- but i wanna go just walk it and then decide. Thing is now i don't even know what I'm spending before i get there- and don't want end up overpaying.

Thanks for the replies
I had totally planned on buying a white platinum, got to the dealership and test drove one and loved it. Got back in the showroom and fell in love with the look of the black on black SR on the floor.
Ran some numbers in my head, came back the next day test drove the SR and had a deal within an hour.
The moonroof and additional camera views will be missed, the rest I can live without a problem.
With the $2,500 saved from the platinum to the SR, I purchased the rocker panels, the rear diffuser and still had money saved.
My intentions were to buy the black alloys because they seriously look sweet, but I decided to keep the standard 19" alloys and I have no regrets about them.
I'm in NY and our tinting laws suck but I plan to get the windows tinted, just not as dark as I'd like.
As it stands I am probably going to pass on the extended warranties, but would still reconsider if I could be talked into it.

I'm curious - did you feel a difference in the drive between the Plat you test drove and the SR? I only tried and bought the SR, but I was already at the top of my budget.

Didn't buy the warranty. They wanted 2K. I figured I'll see how much mileage I have on it in a year and then figure out if I want to try and buy something.

To be honest, I didn't notice a substantial difference between 2 vehicles
I was taking in a lot of info (salesman going over features, using radio, navi, etc)
Again for me it really was a tossup, and the cheaper sticker got me in the end.
My finance mgr offered $1966 for b-b "as long as you own it" warranty but I just couldn't pull the trigger thinking that $2k could have been the platinum if I wanted to spend an extra $2k.
I'm happy with the SR and I'm happy with the Black. If I had gotten the Platinum in White I'm sure Id be happy also. Lol.

I did buy the warranty. I usually do not keep cars longer than 3-4 years but I thought maybe I'll keep the Max longer. With the technology in it made me feel the coverage might be worth it. Or if I passed it on to one of my kids it might be helpful for them or better resale to someone else.

I received a 10 year warranty and free oil changes for life as part of my dealers' standard offering for any car bought from them. The cost wasn't baked into the pricing either. They were the lowest of the 3 dealers in the area.

I totally agree especially with the electronics built into this car. I am leasing, otherwise I'd have gotten the warranty

10 year bumper to bumper? Sounds like a deal too good to pass up.

i got offered that, 10yr/100k miles, for $5k, but thought that i would not keep the car that long.
then, they offered 5yr/100k miles for $2.5k... since i drive 80miles a day, and almost an additional 1600miles per month.

with all the bells and whistles, and electronics packed in the sr, i took the latter.

My insurance provider Geico offers an extended warranty for new cars. It's a fraction of the cost of a factory warranty. They don't advertise this but if you call them they will quote you. I make monthly payments and I want to say it was like $20-25 ish more for both my wife's 2015 pathfinder and my maxima SR in addition to my monthly insurance premiums. I pay about $225 for full coverage on three vehicles.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully you won't need it but if you do, we'd like to have an update on how they paid.

My extended warranty thoughts. I bought...

My 2016 Platinum is covered 7Y/100K. About $2K, which is tightly controlled by Florida law. No dealing.

Backed by Nissan, I bought the only kind of warranty worth having: Exclusion based.

Most warranty offerings will say what is covered (inclusion) in a large narrative description of parts and functions --which a lot of I don't even understand. Then, in a couple of years the name of a part of function changes to something similar, but not quite the same. Result? That new part or function isn't included in *your*warranty. Yeah, it used to be called a molecular valve, but now it is a bifurcated entry grommet. No coverage

The EXCLUSION warranty says everything in the car is covered, EVERYTHING, except what is expressly excluded. Tires, wipers, oil, the usual suspects are on this list. If it isn't excluded, its covered.

I learned the hard way with my Honda warranty -- get the excluded model!
