I've recently noticed that if I am completely stopped and then floor it, the transmission or engine seems to make a weird high pitched whining noise as the rpms go up. If I am moving at 10 mph before flooring it, the car doesn't make the whining noise. Can someone try this out and see if it's normal?

It does it whether in normal or sport mode, and with traction control on or off.

No this isnt normal. The only whining noise you should hear (not necessarily) is a high pitched whine coming from the fuel pump which is a common issue for a lot of maxima's. You will hear this sound when you turn the steering...even if you are not moving. If the sound is from the fuel pump then there is nothing to worry (there is a seperate thread on this topic). If not, then better get your car checked at the dealer asap.

Can the noise be heard only when you are in the car? Ask someone to stand outside while you drive away to see if they can hear it. If it can only be heard inside....Im thinking fault with Active Sound Enhancement via the speakers maybe??

Lol at the supercharger comment. Now that you mention it, it does sound similar to a supercharger whine except that it isn't consistent

No one else has any issue with whining during WOT acceleration from a complete stop?
