Maxima keeps dropping Bluetooth connection

Picked up my 2016 Nissan Maxima last week. Love the car however I have started to notice something that is driving me crazy. The Bluetooth connection between my phone and the car keeps disconnecting and reconnecting about every 2 min. Trying to have a phone conversation is a joke. I have taken the phone out of my side holster and put it in the cubby hole in front of the drink holder but nothing changes. My previous car (Chrysler 200) didn't have any issues with Bluetooth range, matter of fact it would pick it up from inside the house. Is this normal, has anyone had this issue? If so can the dealership fix this or what?

Outside of the Bluetooth issue I dont have any issues with this car. Smooth Ride and awesome looks.

Any direction would be good!

Thanks

What is the make/model of your cell phone. Not all are compatible to the Nissan system.

nissan tech has told me to factory reset my phone, and it should be better.
samsung s5. nothing changed. same issue, as with OP.
been used to it, since it only happens when my phone is on standby.
but in a case where you try to make or receive a call and it disconnects at the same time, reconnection almost never completes, and will not be able to unless the car is turned off.

Since you have tried multable devices and they all produce the same disconnect problem I would believe you have a faulty BT module in your car.

Thanks for the input, is this something the local dealership with a service dept. can fix?

They should be able to replace it. Probably would have to order in the parts.

That was happening to me too so I would just click fm or am on the audio options then go back to blue tooth. That worked for me.

I am having similar issues with my 2017 S built on May 2017, was this ever resolved? I would have assumed that a year later this problem will no longer exist, any feedback will be appreciated, thanks

Just upgraded my phone from a Samsung S4 to a S7. No problems with either phone on my '17 Platinum.

I have a 2017 Platinum and mine is doing the same but only when I have my Air Pods out of the case and not in my ear. With the Air Pods in the case, that is not active, I don’t have the issue. So it seems like the Maxima BT gets confused or interrupted when a second BT unit is active. Maybe.

I have a question. I have been having problems with my blue tooth dropping out. I have narrowed it down to either when I remote start the car or use the app on my phone to start the car. When I use the start button on the car to start it everything functions as designed. I have been having trouble with this all week long. It didn't start having this issue till 1/24/18. Has anyone narrowed down this issue to remote starting or is it when ever u start the car including with the start button. I have a Nexus 6P phone. I am open to suggestions. I am thinking of calling Nissan directly. Not sure if i need to contact the dealer on this issue or not. Thanks

I was told "Nissan is behind on tech... new phones don't work as well" (for example, my car's volume and phone's Bluetooth volume aren't in sync).
Reality is that my older Nissan (old-style nav) works just fine.
I think the 2016 Maxima has the "version 1.0" of the new nav/infotainment, which is crap.
2017 and 2018 are somewhat better.

Hi Guys,

From a tech point of view if you are using a samsung S5 that is an older phone and it will have issues with bluetooth 4.0 devices. have you tried any other phones like an iphone 6 or better or maybe a new android the s7 or s8. I have the s8 and have never had any issues in the 2017 platinum. Just sharing.. hope it helps.

Riddle me this:

Then why is my 2015 Pathfinder PERFECT with new phones - iPhone 8+, iPhone 7, Samsung Galaxy S8 - and older phones - iPhone 6s, BlackBerry PRIV - but my 2016 Maxima has disconnection and volume sync issues, among other things?

I had the same problem on 2016 SR with S6 edge plus, bluetooth dropping and calls getting disconnected and connected. I reset my phone, now its working happily.

I did some research on my phone. Found common problem. Deleted all of my inactive blue tooth devices. Only added my maxima to my phone seems to be working as designed today. Will keep an eye on it for the next week. Also updated my phone. Hope it stays working.
