37yrs old, pearl white SR.
Previous car was 2008 Altima Coupe, 1994 Integra before that. I wanted a 4 door car and was looking at the Maxima and the V6 Accord, test drive showed that Maxima was geared to be driven while the Accord was a fair bit more timid, despite similar HP ratings.
39 with a gunmetal SR. Also intended to buy an Accord (I own an Odyssey) to replace my aging Camry Sport, but the Accord handled too mellow. I was thinking of buying the Acura TSX but the Acura was really weak on features and had no upgrades for 2016.
64. Second Max. Owned a 2000 which was a great car. Sold 2 years ago with 150K still going strong. Loving my new 2016 S - Storm Blue. A lot of features even in the base model. Have yet to take a road trip but if other are exceeding the 30 MPG hwy rating will be even happier.
i like this car, it has some nice power and quickness to move around. i have slowed down a bit with the aggressive driving so this car fulfills my needs and wanting something sporty and comfortable with good gas milage. my previous cars:
2008 BMW M5 (this was madness)
2012 Cadillac SRX (nice but its american made and yeah...)
46, Deep Blue Pearl. Traded in my wife's 08 Infiniti QX56 for this car. We've never owned a Nissan, besides the Infiniti, so we're anxious as to how this car will treat us and how well it holds up it's value.
I have been a fan of Maxima since the 3rd and 4th generation Maxima when I was at around 20 years old. It was too big of a car and costing too much for me then, so I wasn't able to own one at that time. After I graduated from college and saved up a bit, I bought a MR2Spyder (2-seater convertible). Subsequently, I replaced the MR2Spyder with an Mazda RX8 while my wife drives a cross-over SUV Mitsubishi Outlander.
Now that the family has grown, the RX8 had increasingly become less practical for us even though I could fit the two child car seats in there. I decided to add a larger family sedan and the 8th gen Maxima is the best for our needs. I picked the SR due to the pedal shifter (I do enjoy using it on twisty mountain back roads or along the California coast) and the Alcantara interior. I only wish that I could come with the panoramic moon roof like the other trim levels. But between the Alcantara that I touched every second when I'm in the car versus the panoramic moonroof that I might open every now and then, SR it is.
Just wondering, how many of you cross-shopped with Lexus ES350? It is in the same price range especially compared to Maxima Platinum. Both are more about luxury than about sportiness (maybe because I used to drive small sport cars, I can't really call the 3500lbs FWD CVT Maxima a sport car). I cross-shopped the ES350 and the TLX. I feel like ES350 is a closer competition to the Maxima than the TLX. The interior and exterior designs of the TLX are simply dreadful, and it costs more. The ES350 looks good from the outside, but the inside is a bit too old for me.

I must agree with you regarding the California coast. Back and forth a couple of times from Monterey to Bodega Bay is a kick. Skip the traffic in the city though.
32- 16 Black SL- came from a Lexus IS 350 F Sport and wanted something bigger and was going to go with a used Lexus ES or GS but drove the new Maxima and fell in love! No regrets.
I, too, am 39 and owned an RX-8 and this is my first Maxima! My RX-8 had a full Mazdaspeed kit that was shipped from Japan. I wanted to keep that till I got old and gray but alas, kids came into my life and I had to give her up.
I looked at the ES350 as well but felt like a grandpa after test driving it so it was a no brainer to go with a Maxima! The TLX I thought was too expensive and I like the fact that there are very few Maximas on the street. I hope it stays that way...

You're 19 with a GT-R????? I don't think I bought my first $30K+ car until I was in my late 20's.
I've been working non stop online since I was 14 and one of my ideas was very successful. Also had an internship at Oracle and so I had a lot of good connections to make my ideas reality. I'm glad I started young because I had nothing to lose. I bet if I would have waited until I was out of college to do things I would end up in a spot where I wouldn't take the risks I did.
Hey guys, first post, but have lurked since late last year.
44, deep blue pearl SR/Camel
Just ordered it last weekend (they're currently building it)
I've been a Nissan guy for a number of years, starting back in '93 with my 240SX. Kept it until 2001, after marriage and we bought out my brother-in-law's Volvo S70, and responsibility took over. I drove my wifes '93 Maxima from that point 'cause, well, Volvo. The Maxima was great but by 2006 rust started getting to it and I picked up a 2007 Altima 3.5 to replace it. That car has been solid for almost 10 years now. Outside of regular maintenence, the only thing needed was a rusty oil pan replacement. I could of drove it a few more years (never a CVT issue), but I've had the itch for something new for over a year now.
I considered some smaller, more nimble upscale models:
- Lexus IS300 - Liked the styling (I like something a little different) but the gas peddle feel did not sit right with me. I felt I really had to press the gas to get it to move, though once up there it was fine.
- Infiniti Q50 - same deal as the Lexus. I guess I'm used to the responsiveness of Nissan V6's.
- Audi S3 - I almost pulled the trigger on one of these. Handles and moves amazing. Bit of lag off the line, but not bad at all. After seriously thinking about it though, I live in a large city and my commute is mostly stop & go traffic and the power/handling would be a waste. Being the bottom end of the Audi lineup, it was pretty sparse on features also. The premium price for the engine/handling/badge was not worth it. That, and I was also concerned with long term reliability, which Germans are not exactly known for.
In the end, the Maxima was the best bang for the buck and I felt more comfortable with it over the others. I went in to the dealer looking for a '16 model, but there were slim pickings left at this point. I figure since I buy cars very infrequently, I might as well get exactly what I want, rather than settle and have any regrets afterwards.
I went with the SR trim for 2 reasons: I wanted the Camel interior and I did not like the wood trim in the Platinum. Only feature I wish the SR had was the 360 camera. The others in the Platinum are nice, but that's the only one I really wish was optional on the SR.
Anyway, sorry for the wall of text, but very excited to get the Maxima, but the waiting game is going to torture me.
I wanted a car with reasonable power but a lot of creature comforts, and this felt better than a lot of cars that I cross shopped against it. I also have a project '02 Audi TT Roadster around for things I can stomp on a bit. Before this, I've been around... a '13 Chrysler 200 Limited, a '13 Hyundai Genesis Coupe (briefly), a '08 Audi A6, an '05 Dodge Magnum RT, and a bunch of sporty cars and sedans before that.
2012 Maxima
2001 Corvette Z06 450rwhp
1998 Supercharged Cobra 450rwhp
2004 Infiniti G35 (I wanted to some luxury with sport)
1996 Mustang Cobra Naturally Aspirated
1998 Eclipse GSX Turbo completely built
1988 Ford Mustang 5.0 Notchback - Beast (High School car so much fun)
Can you guess where in that line of cars I got married? lol
I searched my local dealers inventory online and had my heart set on a deep blue pearl platinum with black leather. I was standing next to it waiting for the salesman to bring the key when my SR caught my eye. It was the only SR they had. I absolutely fell in love with the camel interior! I didn't even bother testing the platinum.
I also have an 05 miata, so the loss of the sunroof wasn't a big deal to me.
I have purchased 5 Nissan's from the same dealer and this won't be my last.
Previously owned:
2014 Titan
2013 Murano
2012 Altima
2012 Sentra (purchased for my mother) this one currently has 100k+ and never had to do anything other than routine maintenance.
Was a dodge/chrysler man for many years, but quality has been lacking imo. Nissan is my new favorite!
19.
Was debating between a max and Q60 but ended up getting the max i sadly regret because its just such a long car, anyways trading it in for 2017 Q60 soon.

51 and just bought a 2017 black SR Midnight. Love it. Came out of a Hyundai Sonata Turbo. When I saw the Maxima a few months ago i said immediately thought that would be my next car. Also drive/race a Porsche Boxster.
I'm 40 (wow, that's weird to type), and I picked up a used '16 white Maxima Platinum back in July for a steal. I've been a Honda/Acura loyalist for 20 years, but I'm very impressed with the entire design and list of options this car offers. I LOVE this Maxima!!
