Glove box removal

I searched the forum on how to remove the glove box but I couldn't find any information. Does anyone know how to remove the glove box? I removed all the screws that are necessary but I could not figure out how to drop it down. I would like to replace the light bulb to an LED. Any advise will be appreciated.

You just pull down on it firmly and it should pop loose. There are (8) screws to remove as was posted recently.

I just replaced my bulb in mine a couple weeks ago. We were like WTH on how to get it out after removing all the screws.

Removing the glovebox, is it just unscrew the 8 screws and pull down?

Glove Box Removal

I too am trying to get the glove box out. Need to get to the blower fan to clean out leaves. Just removing screws and pulling down is not the way! That may be on the 2015's and before but this unit is affixed much more complicated. I also have searched the web to no avail. Does anyone have information as to how to either to get the box out or know how to clean out the blower fan?

Glove box removal

Thank you MaxJoe75 for posting printed instructions - However this is what I keep finding - they are just not correct. They are assuming the glove box is similar to pre- 2016 maximas and they are not. When you take the piece off on the far right side that faces the door..(which the instructions don't show you take off.) You find a screw inserted from the behind going forward holding the "dash-facia: to the car. If you were just to pull the box unit out you will break a lot of stuff. It also shows you 3 extremely snug clips that hold the box on. I was able to use a right angle phillips screw driver and get the screw out from behind. But the unit is far too tight to even try to begin to pull it out. Looking for Nissan to step up and post correct instructions. What I need to get at is the blower fan.

Glove Box Removal

Solution! - Here's the missing information on removing the glove box from an 8th generation Maxima. The spec/instruction sheet (posted above on this thread) provided by Nissan is incorrect in the depiction of the graphics. They also lack detailed instruction.
You do remove the 8 screws. However that front fascia of the dash does not drop out. It's only the black inside box that comes out. Looking for tabs on the far left of the fascia near the center consul is INCORRECT. After removing the 8 screws what you need to do is try to pull the black box out on the right side between the left fascia and the box. Maybe using something to help pry it forward. Then you can work the tabs on the left side out. From there it's easy access to the fan motor - 3 screws and yo can clean it out.

Thank you for taking the time to follow up. Shameful that Nissan cannot update the instructions in the easy to modify digital format. I am interested in more specific instructions on removing the blower motor. How much crud was lodged in that fan area? Did you notice the interior air filter door. That job is also tough to accomplish.

Glove Box Removal

After removal of the glove box, getting into the fan was easy. Just 3 screws (choose the correct ones it's the ones next to the alignment pins) There is a modulator or something connected to the cover of the fan but it posed no problem it stayed connected to the cover. Sure enough had a simple leaf pestual that was acting like a playing card in bike spokes. It's quiet now. Now that I know how the glove box is really quite easy -- It was the incorrect instructions that took me down a wrong path full of frustration.

Can someone please provide more directions? I am confused what "black Box" you are referring to. If possible please provide pictures or an actual marked up diagram

Its years later but thanks for all this info. Needed to get into the blower motor of my 19 max to pull out a square inch piece of a paper towel that was making it sound like a jet engine.

The glovebox was surprisingly easy to pull out like you said just start on the right side and once it pops you're good to pull the rest out.

Question for those who successfully removed the glove box. Once the glove box is out is it possible to see the cabin air filter door. If so, this may be an easier way to change the filter. Just hoping.

If you do what I did, pull the glovebox but not disconnect the glovebox light cable(its ziptied to the glovebox to wrap up the slack and I didn't have a need to detach it, I just laid it in the passenger floorboard) then no, not much benefit. If you take the thing out of your car entirely then I can imagine you could probably flip yourself upside down in the floorboard and be able to see it a little.

I don't necessarily think its worth it much though. I feel like by the time I got the glovebox out I'd be putting in the new filter the normal way. The glovebox is a breeze to take out though so you might go ahead and give it a whirl and let us know if it helped you.

Thank you for your reply. I just changed the filter about 5000 miles ago so not ready to do it again. But I will try the removing the glove box method the next time. I'll let you know.
