Is it possible to add sonar to the vehicle? I have an "S" model and love the rear backup camera, but am missing the rear sonar I had on my 2008 Infiniti QX56. The wife loves that feature and misses it on the '16 Maxima. I wonder if it would be possible to add this feature since I don't see it as an accessory anywhere in the Nissan brochures/manuals.

 

I work at a dealer and just checked with a guy that does our aftermarket work and he said it can defintely be done, he added it to one a few weeks ago and it turned out great! He only charged $350.

It is possible, but it will be very expensive. Some of us looked into it via the service manual and it shows that there's a module in the center console, different sideview mirrors, and also a front camera. Also, none are really sure if there would require programming to enable it. I'm also sure that there won't be too many dealers willing to program if that is the case.

 

Yep, you're right. I checked with him and he said there's a kit out there to do it but apparently it's still full of bugs and no one will back it with a warranty.
