Newb question: Headlight color to match the running lights

Hey everyone, new to the forums..

Proud new owner of a 2016 S model here. The headlights that come with the S have an ugly yellow and I want to match the color with the nice white running lights.

Couple of questions:
  • How hard is it to install HIDs that will match the color of the running light?
  • Any recommendation for new bulbs I can use that will a) inrease visibility and b) match the lights?

Thanks in advance!

From other forums people have been saying HID 5500k- 6000K are your best bet to match. Installation can be tricky but can be done. You can turn the steering wheel towards the inside of the car depending what side you are working on and remove the front of the plastic liner to get access to the light. Or if you need more room and have floor stands you can removed both tires and take the lining completely off.

JSROOKS - thanks for your response.

I havent found any HID installation instructions specific to the Maxima. What is the easiest way, for someone that has never done it, to get started?

Are there HID kits that are easier then others?

Installation of HIDs on the 8th, is fairly simple and can be done in 30 minutes or less. You will need to purchase a kit with H11 bulbs, its all simply plug and play, I also used a harness to draw power directly from battery, although its not required. I was able to do the installation through the top without going through the wheel wells, the passenger side bulb is a little difficult to access. Check out this thread for pics and more info.

I have an S model and installed the HID myself. Took me about an hour to complete the job ( first time everto install HID lool ). I got OPT7 6000K. Doesn't match but it looks great.

I removed both front tires to get the HID installed as it is much easier than turning the wheels towards the inside of the car.

Here is some pics;

I feel it's not bright enough and might go with other HID with more Lumens ( currently 3600 lumens ) and looking for something above 4000 lumens.

If you need any help let me know,,

Great question. I'd like to know how much better visibility, if any, is to be had by switching to these HID's? Picture would be awesome if you have one of them facing the road.

5k ac hid kit plus the led fogs are almost a perfect match. 6k will have a blueish tint, if that is the look you are going for. Buy some heavy duty 3m tape similar to the stuff used for ezpass. Dont get the cheapo velcro crap. For hid kits I recommend 35w. 55w is way too bright and in many counties/states illegal. Get something like this to help mount the ballasts https://www.amazon.com/3M-Dual-Lock-Reclosable-Fastener/dp/B007OXK1AK/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1469771835&sr=8-5&keywords=3m+hook+and+loop
