Sonar leading to sound system issue
Sonar leading to sound system issue
I got a 2017 Maxima SR two weeks ago. Pearl White with the Midnight Package. Love it! The only issue I have is with the sound system so I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this. At first I thought it was just my imagination, but I started playing closer attention and it's not just in my head.
The issue happens when the sonar goes off (like when I'm pulling into/out of my garage). When that happens the radio sound goes down in the background while the sonar is beeping. That's normal. The not normal part is that after the sonar beeping stops, the radio does not go back to the volume it was at before and stays low so I have to turn the volume to at least half way up just to hear it normal. Anyone else experiencing this?

If you go through the settings on the dash there should be a setting for the sonar system as well as volume control for low speed that you can adjust to your liking. It is a little confusing but grab your owner's manual and go from there.
I never saw this thread back in 2017.
But it is ABSOLUTELY normal.
It's to prevent people - who are dumb enough to blast their audio - from smashing into things.
Man, is the Maxima designed for IQ's below 100?

"Uh...no...it is NOT absolutely normal. It is normal for the volume of the radio to decrease when the sonar alert goes off (so that you can hear the alert), but it is not normal for the volume to remain low after the sonar alert is over. It should return to the level that it was before the alert sounded. If you had read the original post in its entirety, and comprehended what you were reading, you might have responded differently without any inference to the original poster's IQ. To paraphrase you, Man is the Maxima designed for people with low reading comprehension?"
Just wondering.
I just read the following response that hit my inbox so I came here to read the thread. Why is the response not posted here? (not that I agree or disagree).
