View Poll Results: Apple CarPlay - Shouldn't it be offered as a software update to 2016 Maxima Owners?
No, be dumb and play along with the useless help they offer.

Apple CarPlay - 2017 but not the 2016?!!
Apple CarPlay being included in the 2017 Maxima but not with the 2016 is such a nuisance. It is flat out a disgrace.
There is absolutely no hardware or other parts that are different between the 2016 and 2017 Maxima models that would prevent Apple CarPlay from being capable of running.
It should have been made available as a software upgrade for 2016 Maxima owners for a nominal fee. Bottom line. And when you call Nissan, they don't know what the hell they're talking about because there is no hardware changes between the two models, rather it is strictly software.
Apple CarPlay requires a USB input (check) and a vivid color display (check; exactly the same as the 2017.) The only difference is that the Telematics software unit which is pre-imaged from the factory includes Apple CarPlay for the 2017 Maxima Platinum and not for my 2016.
So why the F couldn't someone who actually cares over there think to offer a software upgrade service to those 2016 early customers who were so quick to buy the car as we are so loyal to Nissan; why can't we be treated fairly instead of being told by some high-school pin head in sales that I need to consider trading in my 2016 towards purchasing a 2017 - are people really that stupid???!!!
I feel Nissan screwed us early adopters over royally with this.
I know for a fact that my car can run Apple CarPlay if Nissan would just upgrade my nav unit with the 2017 software.

I don't think this is true. I bought a 2016 SR with no nav card. Bought one online but when I went to put it in my HU, it needed the old SD card. I used a friend's SD card from his mom's HU and everything turned out fine
