Anyone thought of changing the screen?
Hello all,
We all have been reading about many 16-17 Maxima owners complaining about the OEM touch screen.
I mean that there is no Car Play nor Android Auto.
Has anyone thought to replace the OEM with an aftermarket one?
This will give an android device in your car and as mentioned in the description, this screen support 360° cameras if anyone wants to do some upgrades
I have seen two type of screens, one 10.2" screen

the other one is 10.4" Tesla-Style screen ( Vertical screen )

I like the idea but my concerns is about its reliability and also not to void the warranty.
What do you think guys

The screen appears to have Apple Car Play, but since I do not belong to the cult of Apple, I don't care about it. Android Auto would be nice. And I just found out that my car is not equipped for Connect (a handful of limited apps). Nevertheless, the screen is easy to use and has quick response, and I don't plan to replace it.

I've had an Android tablet in my 2010 Max, 2012 Max, and 2014 Murano. It was easy to mount using the CD slot without blocking the display. But, the best option I've come up with so far in my 2016 Max is to use a magnetic car mount for it. Pics in my post here https://maxima.org/forums/8th-genera...ml#post9149773

I have a Joying unit in my '02 Audi TT -- similar architecture to these, with the SoFIA CPU and 2GB of RAM on Android 6. They're neat units, but they won't give you CarPlay or Android Auto, they'll just be Android in a head unit with support for MirrorLink. The nice thing is that you get tons of options for music and GPS, but it's not going to be as well integrated as the existing unit, especially with the screen in your gauge cluster.
The nice thing is that my TT doesn't really have any features that get shut off by using this. Putting this into the Maxima, you'd lose satellite radio, voice commands, dash integration -- at the very least. You'd likely be able to keep the rear camera, USB ports, and steering wheel controls.

That's kind of the whole point of Car Play - off load the infotainment updates to mobile device manufacturers. However, I don't think a screen will ever truly go away, but the software behind it might.

I talked to the website selling it and during my conversation they raised the price by 100 dollars. I learned all of the nice versions with the better cpu and ram you cant get. After that i lost all confidence with the company and product. Maybe, if there were some reviews on it i would buy it but i cant find any which makes me doubt the product exist.

It makes so much more sense to use a mobile device with a large, (mostly) dumb screen and mobile apps. Updating the S/w would be so much easier and cheaper than the current method.
