2017 Maxima removing audio/nav unit

Does the soft leather on the lower sides need to be removed when removing the unit? I ask this because the dealer recently replaced my unit with another new unit. I noticed the lower leather soft trim piece on the left side has a tear it seems from the top where it goes in between the cracks.

Doesn't have to, I have had mine out several times with no issues.. just be careful.. Some of the Nissan documents instruct the dealer to cover the area with tape prior to removal, to protect from damage.

Is it a tear, or does that section just need to be tucked back in?

Okay I looked again real closely today. It seems to be some kind of tape? Its sticky when I press my finger against it hard and looks like it needs to be pushed in.

Since you have had it out several times. Is it pretty simple how everything is hooked up and cant really miss any thing in the back? Or easy to miss something and have it plugged in the wrong places?

Pretty simple. Several plugs but they are all unique shapes the usb's on the back are the same shape but are color coordinated... Should be no issue.
