I was actually looking into that blinking brake lights.
I was going to order it but the guy told me I might need the resistors for it. Did you order just the 7440 bulbs?

I ordered the 7440 led bulbs after verifying the size at a few sites. The 7443 housing is different due to 7443 being dual filament as 7440 is single. Either will work😉

We are trying to avoid rear end collisions to now potentially causing road rage😏 Those angry drivers will always find something(loud music/HID Headlights/Fog Lights/LED Tails...)

I am sure it will do more good than bad but if issues come up...There is a easy fix😆😆

Hi all, newly registered with a 2016 SR. I just ordered the module mentioned in one of these threads. Should I just have ordered the bulbs instead? Also, on the module install did any of you buy more than one for each tail light or did you just use it for the brake light on the upper deck above the rear seat? I may have not been entirely clear when I ordered.

Thanks for the help.

if you want all to flash, install it on the brake switch by the pedal.
just the corner brake lights, yes, you will need two.
or, one for just the spoiler or 3rd brake light in-cabin.

at least, that was the instruction that came with the module i bought.

I guess if I can figure it out l'll do the install on the rear deck light.

Still unclear if all I needed was just flashing bulbs though.

I will report back if I get any gestures or look because of them. If you are doing the break light, that module needs to go between harness for 3rd light and spoiler LED cable or 3rd rear deck light wiring. That way it will do its thing before it gets to brake light

You can always return it and get the LED bulbs.

I don't have a spoiler so I was going to install the module at the brake so all the brake lights would be in sync but the instructions are awful and after crawling under the dash I wouldn't know how to isolate the correct wires without detailed instructions.

Ian, you didnt need no resistor kit or anything?
You just switched the stock bulbs from the brake lights to the blinking led bulbs right?
Just plug and play?

Yes, as bright as any led bulbs. Def worth the money. They complement the tail lights very well without being too oberwhelmed.

Well just went to the dealer to ask about installing the module and was told it will invalidate the warranty, they went so far as to say the bulbs violated the warranty as well. The module install involves cutting wires so I sort of get that. The light bulbs I don't get since there is no cutting. The explanation from the mechanic was that the voltages were so sensitive that due to the way the brake system was set up the aftermarket parts could cause other brake and electrical system issues.

I'm going to hold off on the module but still considering the bulbs.

This is totally true - messing with bulbs invalidates warranty, since there is an increase in fire risk.

I've seen multiple cars (notably a BMW 330i) with incinerated rear ends due to bulb issues.

This is a rice mod, in my opinion. I actually think it's illegal - German cars have "variable" taillights where more of them light up (and brighter) with max brake pedal pressure.

To each its own by it's my car and I can mod as I please. If invalidates warranty I have auto insurance to cover it. So far after 2 weeks, no issue w them or any of my license plate, interior, vanity or door LEDs installed.

Yeah bro it's your car so feel free to break the law. You can do it as you please and risk a fire, but in the meantime, I'd put some cash aside should you get a ticket. If you please.

The idea is to warn following drivers of a sudden stop from cars ahead. But U.S. government regulators say brake lights are allowed to do only one thing: glow more brightly than the taillights. Flashing is off-limits.

short burst of flashing red should be fine.
cops had been around me, and no problem.

unless it is constant flashing, brake applied, then, that may be a different case.
it looks like hazzard lights that way.

Ian B. - your bulbs does a short flashing in the beginning only, right?

Yes quick blinking for a second and then stay solid. No driver has flashed me or raged while using them. Almost like if you were pumping brake pedal.
