No Key Detected (post-battery replacement)
No Key Detected (post-battery replacement)
Replaced the batter inn my key fob, brand new package to fob. I have issues with it displaying 'No Key Detected', and I have to put the fob directly over the ignition button for a few seconds to detect.
I have had that happen to me a couple x in my altima and quest. Bad new batteries were the culprit for me. Sometimes they sit in stores and go dead over time. I usually get mine off of AMAZON, and get duds from time to time. Try another new battery
Bought a new package and it seems to be working.
If this fails repeatedly, it is possible one of the three antennas hidden in the car that are used to determine if the keyfob is inside or outside the car may have failed. But hopefully that will not be the case, as many techs have trouble pinning that problem down, and replacing one of those antennas can require some time.
Anyone else have intermittent problems with the unlock button on the door not working? I recently replaced the battery in my Fob and it started acting up again after just a week or two. A couple of times I got he "invalid key ID message" and I had to put the Fob right next to the button to start. Suspiciously, my wife had the same problem today, and she doesn't even drive it very often.
i just put a set of fresh batteries in today, we'll see what happens. If it persists, will the Nissan shop be able to figure this out? Unfortunately it hasn't failed outright so that I can easily show them issue.

I bought 2 remotes for my 2010 max, that came with batteries. The locksmith the programmed them ended up going thru 8 new batteries to find 2 that worked. need to test the batteries first, seems to be a lot of bad batteries out there!
Wow, sounds like anything less than 100% battery is a problem. That's a shame, seems like a finicky system. This last battery I put in was from IKEA...I think it had only been in there a month. I just replaced it with another from the same package..., guess I'll wait and see

After 1 week of problem free operation, it failed once again Friday. I walked around the car and tried both doors as well as the trunk. Then I returned to the drivers side and after a couple more tries it worked. The key was not in the same pocket as my cell phone, so there is no interference that I can think of
Popped out the IKEA battery and had it measured. It was still well over 3 volts. Didn't see any corrosion and it seemed to have good contact
I popped the battery back in and no problems for the past 2 days. My wife doesn't drive it often enough to know if it's happening for her. It did once but that may have been when it had the original battery.
It will suck if I have to go to the dealer for a sporadic issue, since who knows if they will find it. Any other suggestions?
Good Point, However...

My 2017 Altima SL has been having a similar issue where both keys would start/unlock the car, etc, but car would randomly display No Key Detected. Thinking maybe it was a battery issue (even though there is a message that I have seen that indicated Low Battery Detected), I replace both batteries in both keys. Still after this, randomly the No Key Detected would display.
Since my car is still under warranty, took it in this past weekend. I know they did some re-programming as the beep horn when locked is now activated; I had previously de-activated that feature.
They indicated that on both keys, the internal key was pressing against the battery compartment prongs and this was causing the battery to get loose enough to where it wasn't making good battery connection. They adjusted the prongs, said there was a little corrosion, cleaned and tested.
It's only been 3 days and the message hasn't come back up, however, I'm not convinced this is was the issue - time will tell.
Just throwing this out there. Was always afraid that I might get stranded somewhere when this occurred but in all cases the car would still start up with this error. I drove 10 miles and about 30 minutes away last week with No Key Detected. So now I am in wait and see mode.
