Removed SD card

So I removed the SD card to my 17 Maxima S to copy it's files. When i started my car, I had forgotten that I had taken out the SD card....well, without the sd card, not only did my maps not work, but neither did my bluetooth, CarPlay, XM radio...all were "grayed out." basically those functions did not operate without the SD card.

Im not very techie, but my question is, if CarPlay didn't work without the SD car...makes me wonder if we could plug in an SD from a model that actually has Android Auto and get it to run?

Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Its most likely a license issue in that Nissan has not paid to have the license for Android Auto for the 2016-2017 cars, hence no Android Auto. The SD card is keyed to a number stored in the head unit so its unlikely you can just swap SD cards. It would be nice to have Android, so hopefully there is a was around all this.
