My Nissan dealer recommended 60K to me, so I went with that. I now have 74K trouble-free miles on the car.
gotcha then ill go ahead and do it at 60K mine is at 34K was not sure to just go ahead and change it at 34K or just wait for 60K. but just going to wait it out then.

The dealer may recommend 60,000 mile changes but Nissan does not. The Maintenance schedule does not recommend changing it up to 105,000 miles under normal use. It is 60,000 for severe use. It is however, a money maker for the dealer. Every service they can get you to do that is not recommended by Nissan is dollars in their pocket. On the other hand do whatever makes you feel better. I changed the fluid in my 2009 Maxima and my 2011 Murano at around 90,000 miles as it is easy to do.

I'm a Mechanical Engineer and the statements I make are based on scientific fact, they are not anecdotal like yours. Look up my other posts on this topic (in other threads). Maybe then, you'll understand.

I am new to this forum and I just discovered this older thread. I read the whole damn thing. To the OP, I say thank you, thank you, thank you for posting that Road & Track article. CVT's don't seem to get any love and I understand that based on my 2014 Altima SL 2.5. Excellent car and very reliable. But that CVT did have drone big time. Didn't bother me but I didn't pretend I was driving anything but a car to commute. When I got my current 2020 Maxima SL with 300 ponies and a super smooth CVT with excellent acceleration I witnessed the improvement firsthand. To me anyway, I feel like I'm driving a comfortable "sporty" sedan with a luxury feel. Exactly what I was looking for.

The CVT transmission is the worst transmission ever built anywhere !! I have owned 2 Nissans with this transmissions . A 2015 sentra , The trans was junk. Never shifted properly . You could floor the gas pedal and the car would hesitate and shift up n down and take forever to get up to 60 mph . And shake badly, I Took to the dealer several times . They could never get it fixed properly . So I traded it in on a 2017 Sentra . Same exact problems . I had the car for about a year . It never drove correctly. Sometimes I had to pull off the road and let it set for about 15 minutes , then go again . Lucky for me , someone ran a stop sign , and hit me totaling the car . The Inurance company paid me off and I bought a used Acura tl. Its been the
Best car I ever owned .

So far my 2017 Maxima is the best car I have ever owned, by far. A very close second is a 2007 Altima SL with the CVT transmission. I have, and have had over 200,000 carefree miles with the CVT. I never put a dime and either one of them except for routine maintenance. I bought both cars new so I know how they have been driven and I take care of them. No jackrabbit starts... Oh, maybe once in awhile, to let others know it's still in the hunt. 😉
