Year and half-years

Please forgive this ignorant question... but I noticed is some places references to 2018 and 2018-1/2 Maximas. How does one tell if their 2018 is in the first or second half of the year... and does it really matter when buying parts?

The only true half year designation was a 2017.5 Maxima model. It does look like Nissan had a longer production run for the 2018 model year though judging by the 18s still on the lots around here

What’s the difference between 2017 and 2017.5 Platinum?

I just bought a 2017.5 and am curious as to what’s included in it versus the 2017.

I could be wrong about this, but I think the 17.5 added android auto. Might have been some other changes too, but not sure beyond that
