CVT question

As I mentioned I picked a 2016 platinum with a little over 24k ( 24300) miles in April. The first thing that I did was get a oil change at my oil change spot ( not the Nissan dealer). No problems because the mechanic has been changing my oil on my previous car for 10 years. He gave me synthetic oil. I was in the car today and I am almost at 28k. I notice the maintenance records say that at 30k replace CVT fluids. I have been online for the last few hour and I am getting conflicting information. Some say don’t because changing transmission oil leads to transmission problems. Other information I found says not before 50k. Any advice or recommendations?

You have no idea how this car was driven/treated before you took ownership. If it were me, I would get the CVT fluid changed now at a reputable Nissan dealership, not at your local shop. Could save you some headaches down the road. My 2 cents.

Your maintenance guide does not tell you to replace the CVT fluid at 30k. There is no point in changing it.

Only the Taxi and HEV need changing at 30k

Under the standard maint schedule the CVT fluid never needs to be changed, only inspected. Under premium maint its changed every 30,000 miles.

Where is a "premium maintenance" schedule posted?

It’s very easy to do a drain and fill on the cvt yourself.

page 13, bottom right: "For these vehicles with a CVT transmission, cube, Murano (except HEV), Altima, Altima Coupe, Juke, Maxima, Rogue, (except HEV), NV200, Sentra, Pathfinder (except HEV), Quest and Versa, replace the CVT fluid every 60,000 miles or request the dealer to inspect the fluid deterioration data using a CONSULT. If the deterioration data is more than 210000, replace the CVT fluid."

I did mine @60K mi per dealer recommendation; no issues, car has 69K mi, pulls like a train.
