Infotainment Screen Resolution

After comparing the infotainment screen in my maxima to other comparable models, I’ve noticed the resolution is abysmal. This is definitely a case of knit picking, but I would really like to know if it’s possible to replace the screen with one that is higher resolution.

I have compared it to Toyota Camry & Avalon, Honda Accord, Acura TLX, Volvo Sedans, and several others.

A word of advice...If the resolution of the infotainment screen is abysmal now, and you have not bought the car, imagine how abysmal the resolution will be after you sign on the dotted line and are making payments on a Maxima. You will go nuts, so under no circumstances should you buy an 8th Generation Maxima.

Sure, with enough money, anything can be replaced on a car.

I suggest you purchase a Toyota Camry or Avalon, Honda Accord, Acura TLX, Volvo Sedan, or several others that have infotainment screens that have high resolution to you liking.

Before buying my 2018 Maxima I owned a 2016 Camry. Nothing can be farther from the truth, at least by comparison to the Camry.

I just test drive a new Camry and it’s not even close. Maybe if you are talking about a 4 year old Camry, but apples to apples it’s not close.

As someone who's owned 2 toyota camrys, I believe you'll be happier overall with the maxima. Camry might have it beat with reliability, but I can assure you there's many complaints regarding toyotas infotainment. Go to the Toyota Nation message boards and snoop around the 8th generation forums. The ONE thing I really miss about toyotas entune infotainment is that you could have a different eq setting for each source. So your am/fm eq could be completely different than your usb or sxm. That's litterally the one thing I miss about it

Maybe I wasn’t clear early, I simply want to know if there is an after market way to update the screen on the maxima. Test drove the Camry with my grandmother, and I’m definitely not wanting to get another car. Sorry if there was any confusion.

Which type of display are you referring to? The audio display? The maps? The backup camera view? The backup view is limited by the resolution of the camera, which I have to admit is not that great. Either way I am not aware of any after-market unit.

If you've been in an 8th gen Maxima in the US for more than 5 minutes you'll immediately realize that "thing" won't fit in our Maximas here, in the US, not by a long stretch. Not to mention $640 just for the privilege of "enjoying" a higher display resolution, plus no sat radio and no voice command compatibility. The dashboard is not even the same, for cryin out loud!

And good luck trying to get a refund if somehow you manage to put that thing in by sawing your car and jamming it in. Somehow.

NisCal, did you notice the Chinese characters on the dashboard?

Seriously? ...

It does fit. It replaces the climate control and everything. There's someone local. To me selling his for $400 because he is selling his max.

I’m returning my leased Maxima this August. I personally never tried the product I posted but I have been in contact with the maker. They actually have physical office in Walnut, CA and I’ve been invited to try the product on my own car but I never did because I didn’t feel like to tear down my interior. But they are very nice people though. And btw to answer the question regarding fitment you should carefully inspect the framing and you can see that it replaced climate control unit.

thank you
