2017 Funky Radio Issues

I recently got a 17 Maxima.. It has just 1,000 miles left on the warranty.. I've had a few times where the radio will just fritz out.. My dashboard will say "Speaking" and not go away.. The Carplay will jack up.. The volume control won't work.. Last night the Audio button on the dash wouldn't do anything.. I pressed it and it would never go to the audio screen.. Switched sources to FM, SXM, unplugged my phone, etc.. I've had to even just turn off the car and "reboot" for it to fix it..

Is this a known issue with a fix or just part of tech? If there's a fix I'd want to get it while I have a few miles left in the warranty.

Thanks

Get the to dealer to get the issues written up before the Warranty is gone. That will strengthen your position for further compensation if it fails later,

Did this happen when using CarPlay? I had a similar issue on an older version of IOS, or when trying to switch from CarPlay (when in use) to another source. One thing that seemed to fix it in the moment was going into the “secret menu”, running the self diagnosis, and let the unit do a hard reset/reboot. Upgrading the device seemed to do the trick eventually and it hasn’t happened since.

Yes, it's usually when CarPlay is involved.. How do I go about getting in the secret menu? I'm assuming you mean of the Maxima?

Thanks

Since it doesn't happen often, be prepared to take video and stills of the occurrence. I did that with my Cadenza when the Nav put up some crazy error in Korean and wouldn't go a way until after 2 restarts. It happened twice to me, showed the dealership the pictures, they ordered a new head unit/nav system without even troubleshooting.

They did this in warranty or out?

Yes - on the head unit. Hold down the menu button and then turn the volume dial clockwise until the menu appears (20 or so turns). There are two options: the one you need is self diagnosis. It should run and reset when the test is complete or when you close out. I have a TCS error on my vehicle, but everything is fine? If you have several errors, it would be worth a trip to the dealer. This hard boot/reset seemed to reconcile any errors with CarPlay at the moment. To me, this was a CarPlay/software issue. So I would recommend updating your device if possible.

Link to a video below on how to get to the menu, posted in another thread on the forum, which I take no credit for. Hope this helps!
