No option to turn off fake shifts?
No option to turn off fake shifts?
I won't mention the dealer but two of the sales guys and I started talking about the fake shifts and we all wanted to know if there was any option to turn off the ridiculous fake shifting mode. Sadly, the service guy didn't even know what we were talking about (all he kept repeating is 'it keeps the revs high,' and 'there's no fake shift mode.')
I can't believe Nissan doesn't lean in to the benefits of a sports car that doesn't need to shift, at least enough to let you turn off the fake shifting. There has to be more information about this out there somewhere, would love some links. Thanks.
ps love the car, thinking about buying one used.

I have a '17 Platinum and do not have the fake shifts but my wife's '19 Murano does. But the only time it does it is under hard acceleration. I asked the service manager if there was a way to reprogram the transmission so that it does't do it but he said that there no way. Apparently it was done to appease those who do not understand how a CVT works and to give them something they are familiar with.
If you activate the sport mode, it will fake shift at much higher RPMs than in normal mode, and even that under hard acceleration.
I understand why they designed the fake shifts - many people (including myself) do want to still have the feeling of a standard automatic transmission. I do not want to feel like I am driving a fast golf cart. But that's just me.

I believe your option to turn off the "fake shifting" (trying to simulate an old-fashioned automatic transmission) is in the Sport Mode button operation. That seems to be the case with my '17 SL. I agree that the fake auto shifting and engine audio augmentation is really unnecessary for those of us who do not often plant our foot in it.
Interesting. I guess I'll have to try that tomorrow in both Sport and Normal mode. I've only punched it a few times in Sport, and I did notice the more abrupt shifting and what seemed like lower rpm shift points. I really don't care for the Sport setting, due mostly to the greater degree of effort to turn the wheel. Seems very odd without a true sport suspension like a Vette and the like. I guess I've never really held the throttle down long enough in Normal mode to get the effect of the "fake" shifts.

I see Toyota Avalon is offering a "TURD" err TRD version with no bump in HP. Once again aan ugly car with a TURD option.
