2019 temp gauge issue?

I just bought a 2019 SL 2 weeks ago and wanted to bounce a perceived issue off the forum. In pic below you will notice a Hot/Cold vertical bar graph on right of "Power" curve. First question is what the hell is that? I can't find it anywhere in the manual or other. Assumed it was duplicate of coolant temp analog gauge but it has a bit different symbol.

When I bought the car I seem to recall that this graph increased incrementally with temp but after driving for a few days it doesn't come on until anywhere from 10-20 minutes of driving and then appears out of nowhere to just below midpoint (similar to the oil level). Do you Maxima's exhibit similar behaviour?

I'm taking this back to have my rear clunk (another thread here that many have had issue with) investigated and trying to decide whether to have them look at this or not.

Seems pretty normal to me. Mine does the same.

i don't think it's a very accurate gauge because it goes from zero to 50% instantly, instead of gradually. I suppose it cold be useful to show the CVT is overheating... but I haven't seen that yet thank goodness

If I'm in the mood to race around, I usually wait for the transmission warm up before trying any heavy acceleration. Supposed to be better for wear and tear in the long run
