2019 SL strange sound.

New to the group. I just bought a 2019 sl last week with 10,000 miles on it. Love the car and it drives great but I noticed that after reversing and then putting it in drive I here a faint clank as I start to drive forward. It only does it after being in reverse and not everytime I take off. Is this normal? Again it's very faint but It is bothering me. Thanks for any advice.

Welcome to the group! That clank is not normal so head to your dealer and get this issue on record. Why they may even find the fix. Keep us posted.

I don’t know if it’s normal, or what it is... but on my 2018 with 33K miles I just started noticing similar. I’m not sure that I hear it every time. If it was a rear-wheel drive I’d be suspecting u-joints.

Mine seems to only do it when the engine is started from cold. It almost sounds like something clicking into place. I'm gonna call the dealer I just got this thing last week.

Question: This faint clank sound you here. Does it clank immediately as you press the accelerator, or is the sound a second or two later after forward movement begins? If it is a bit after forward movement it just may be the ABS system setting, which is normal, but I would not describe it as a faint clank; it is more of a slight eerk. :-)

Not sure if we're talking about the same sound, but sometimes in cold weather when I start my max, I get a noise coming from the back. Almost sounds like one of the mufflers is loose and banging around, if that makes sense. Goes away after a minute

I think you might be right just went for a drive. Does it after movement begins. Sounds like a tap/click almost.
