Rear window tint question

I bought a used 2018 Maxima SR from a dealer in Arizona. They tinted the windows before offering it for sale. The rear window has a an area approximately 1"x8" without tint at the bottom center of glass. Is this necessary? The rear brake light is in the spoiler so I ruled that out. I'm guessing maybe this has something to do with as sensor of some type? Can I tint over this? I bought the car in Arizona so i'm probably going to be required to replace tint anyways. This looks darker than North Carolina allows.

Assuming the tint was cut by a computer my guess would be the tint cutting machine programming was designed to cut that out for cars that have the third brake light. My car also has the third brake light in the spoiler and and not the rear window. I had my windows tinted and there is no cut out.

Great point. I didn’t think about that. The dealer probably has a generic Maxima cut. I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t some special sensor.

There are no sensors that you would need there. As somebody else stated, it was most likely a precut/ computer cut out. I have no cut out AND the third brake light in the window. No sensor issues.

Make sure to remove it professionally. Otherwise your defroster won’t work.

Perhaps the spoiler was after market, and the car may have originally had the CMHSL- the dealer may have removed the light after tinting the windows and installing the spoiler? One edge of the light cover on the back deck is slightly raised..
