May take a look at the Acura TLX

Seriously considering the 21 Acura TLX. I do like my 19 Maxima Platinum Reserve, but the tech is getting dated and it doesn't appear that there will be a 9th generation. The TLX finally got rid of the dual infotainment system, has updated tech (HUD), and its 2 inches longer than the current Maxima. Will definitely test drive it for a true comparison.

Yeah the new gen TLX looks great and aggressive on the outside and hopefully the handling is up to par as well.

The center infotainment stack on the interior is the only part that I hate. Looks too busy for my tastes and the button shifter looks bad IMO elevated like that and I prefer something to hold onto.

But yeah let us know how it is when you get a chance to try one!

Certainly worth a look since they have not been in the running these past few years. I have 22 months left on my 2019 lease so I can wait till the verdicts come in on the new TLX. I do hope they greatly improve the infotainment screen and make it touch-sensitive. The 2015 ILX Tech package we had on my wife's car was for all intents and purposes a big unusable fail. Will Acura include the heated steering wheel, the power-adjustable steering column, the dual-panel sunroof, the rear window shade? We shall see...

Let's see if Acura's touchpad interface for their single screen unit is better than the Lexus touchpad interface which I hear is horrible.

I don't think anything can be worse than Lexus' interface lmao. Every review bashes it. They make the best vehicles but saddle them with the worst infotainment. Kinda funny.

You should go to the forum Acurazine and read some of the threads for the 2019-2020 RDX. Tons of complaints about the entire infortainment system. Some other quality control issues. Maybe no more than most car manufacturers but the infotainment issues have spread into the 2020 models.

Thanks for the info! The 21 TLX's infotainment system will be based on the 20 RDX.

I'm looking forward to the 21 TLX Type-S. I def want more horse power, double wishbone suspension, individual settings on ride. A overall sportier ride compared to the Maxima, but if its still small inside, No good.

Supposedly it is 3 inches longer, 2 inches wider, and has a longer wheelbase. Not excited about the 4 cylinders but from what I've read it pretty nimble. I liked the first gen TLX and seriously considered it but it was a tight fit for me and I wasn't a fan of the confusing dual stack infotainment system.

My lease is up in December and I’m hoping the TLX is out by then to test drive. I would much rather switch to Acura if I like it over the maxima. I would also get the JB4 Burger Tuning for it because I would most likely get the 2.0T. The guy from my local Acura dealer said the 2.0 should be as fast as the accord 2.0T if not faster. As much as I want the 3.0 it will most likely be out of my price range and I don’t want all the added sports stuff to it. I just want the performance of the engine itself without the extras like bigger rims and such. I like a smooth comfy ride and bigger tires def wouldn’t help that.

Sound logic in your choices. What does not work in your favor is that the TLX is a new rendition and won't be in huge supplies for a year or so. Thus you don't have a lot of bargaining power. Same same on the Maxima when it 1st came out. Best to lay in the weeds for the 1st year of the release, let others work out the bugs, do a deal then.
What is important for us is "ease of use" for the controls and the navigation system. Does the TLX have a 360 view camera?, a right front curb view? Require premium of regular gas? etc. When you see what the Maxima Platinums came with starting in 2016 no less, Right now there is no compelling reason to trade cars yet!

yeah that’s the bad part. Not much in the way of haggling . I’ve also considered to see what the 2021 K5 will bring too. That should be a higher production car I would imagine. It also helps that I work at a dealership that sells kia lol. As for premium/regular it doesn’t matter that much because I already put premium in my maxima. And if I do in fact get a tune on it it would 100% require premium. I’m almost positive it has the 360 camera (an absolute must. Can’t live without that now hahaha) but I will I guess also see what happens with the 2021 maxima even though I don’t know want another.
