Considering purchasing a 2020 Maxima SL. Concerns?
Hey everyone,
My wife has her eye on a new 2020 Maxima SL and would be going from a 2017 Mustang ecoboost, is there anything we should be concerned with? They are offering it for $33k. I have a 2018 Titan and I have always liked Nissan's and have owned many of them but I do know they have their quirks. Any and all comments would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have a 2017 SL and have had a very positive experience from the outset with only a few minor warranty claims early on... my roof shade came of the track and the track and shade had to be replaced and a number of window buttons were replaced when the "chrome" started to peel. The power in the vehicle is awesome with passing at highway speeds being a sheer joy. The gas mileage has always been much greater than posted from day one. Yesterday on a highway trip of 75 miles with the cruise control set at 75 MPH I received 36 miles to the gallon. The CVT transmission, regardless of what some will say on this forum, is a gem. The only disappointing aspect of the transmission is the fake shifts, but it does not impact the transmissions performance.
Yup I agree with the previous posts. It's a great and comfortable family sedan with a good amount of power that you can have fun with once in a while. I have around 68k miles on my 2017 SL so far and no complaints so far from me.
The Nissan CVT complaints are mostly centered on the CVTs tied to the 4 bangers and the cheaper vehicles in the lineup. The V6 paired CVT sedans have been holding up fine historically. Has one of the best interiors in its class too IMO

I know. I have had this kind of mileage from almost day one. And every few months I do a manual check to ensure that the cars calculations are correct, and they are. Not to start world war III...but I have only ever used regular gas in my Max. I am currently contemplating trading in on a Infiniti Q50. One of the negatives is you have to use premium gas in the Q50 and the gas mileage is significantly less than the Max. The net affect would be almost double the cost of fuel.

The next 400Z is going to have this motor, which equates to even more aftermarket support. And for those who truly want to be a wolf in sheep's clothing, there are 600hp packages now available.
All good points. If you are a go faster type of guy, the Q will respond. Unfortunately, you are stuck with a very dated design and interior. I went through the pros and cons two years ago when I replace my 2016 Platinum with a new 2019 Platinum.
I DO NOT WANT A CVT!!
