Self-Transmission fluid change
Self-Transmission fluid change
I bought a used one at approx 78K km.
I'm not even sure if the transmission fluid was changed by the previous owners.
If I were to change this one by myself. Would that be easy?
I heard that you shouldn't flush your transmission fluid but do drain and refill?
I'm curious if I go to the shop or do it by myself

While you can save some hard-earned bucks, unless you are a mechanic, I think you should let a pro do this. The dealer is best equipped to do this while making sure the OEM fluid is used and that it is filled to the proper level. There is also a filter on the side of the CVT that could be changed though it pushes up the cost. Some dealers say to leave that one alone. Either way, you are right to get this fluid change done asap.
It is a fairly easy job but you'll have to buy the fluid at around $120 bucks then do the job which can take an hour to 1.5 hours. I change my own fluid but I'm getting to the point (age wise) where I'm looking to go to the dealer for the jobs that require me to get on the ground. Btw, I change my fluid every 50k miles, a simple drain and fill is all that I do. Good luck.
