Oil change intervals

How often do you guys change your oil? Went to the dealer and asked what kind of oil they used, they said it was a synthetic blend $59, and said it's changed every 3,000 miles. Full synthetic was $140.

I believe the manual states for 2023's to use NISSAN Motor Oil 0W-20 SP and change every 7,500 miles or 6 months.

My 2016 manual recommends 0W-20 every 6 months or 5k miles, whichever comes first.

It does say:
As an alternative to this recommended oil, SAE 5W-30 conventions petroleum oils may be used and meet all specifications and requirements
necessary to maintain the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Now that my car is out of warranty, I just change the oil every 5k miles with 0W-20, which takes about 10 months because I don't drive it much.

Thanks for that.

Just got the car back, checked the paperwork they put in 5W30 oil. I went back in and asked why they put that instead of what the manual states? (For 2023 Maximas, 0W-20 SP, if not avail then use 0W-20 GF-6 SP motor oil) They said oh it's just what's printed on the paper, but we put in whatever the cap says.

That just casts such doubt, why is it so hard to find good service? I feel a little better knowing that for the 2016s 5W30 was ok. Will have to find yet another dealership.

I suspect that many dealers use whatever bulk oil they have on hand, which may not necessarily be reflected on the paperwork they give you.

7,500 mile filter and oil changes for me. 0w-20 full-syn. for me. No appreciable oil loss every 7,500 miles. Syn. blend is just fine too. Mine now has 64,000 trouble-free miles.

Does a scorching hot climate affect the oil rating? I live in Austin and we have a lot of plus 100 degree days in the Summer.

I have 155,500 miles since I bought it new ('16 SV). I change it every 4,250 miles approx. Most of the time, 5W30 (regular oil) at the dealership; sometimes 0W20 (synthetic). I leave it up to them since they don't charge me for it (special deal when I bought the car new there). But waiting until 5,000+ miles is way too much each time.

I do 5,750 miles with 0W-20 as stated in the manual. I do all highway driving and never had a problem. I'm currently at 182,000 miles on my 19 SV.

0W-20 synthetic at every 5000 miles. Makes it easy to keep track of and changing the oil is not that hard on a Maxima.
